You never mentioned the gender of the kitten, so I'll include names for both sexes.
Black cats have always been considered rather mystical and dark. In that light, I'd suggest perhaps the name of a mythological person or god/dess somehow associated with the underworld: Persephone, Hades, Arawn, Midir, Anubis, Isis, Osiris, Tia, Bali, Soma, Peri, Rimu, Neti
Other than that, I get the sort of black-cat vibe from these names: Romy, Elise, Cherie, Renee, Leigh, Reed, Miles

My family had a pure black dog and her name was sunshine. theres also spooky or spook, shadow, voldemort, dementor, vader, sith, witchy, blackie, midnight, satan's hallow, Bush(<-that one is one my husband came up with), ebony, black beauty(who says you can only name a horse that), Slinky, Spy, Baghera, Nermal, Luna for a girl Lunar for a boy, or you can go with a reverse name like whitey, snowball, icy, cloudy, or wait to see what sort of personality it has and name it accordingly, we have a black cat that likes to have it's neck popped so we call it Chiro as in chiropractor.
