My family recently found out that my cat has failing kidneys. Since then, we have taken him into the vet for hydration treatments. Each time we go, it really takes a lot out of him. He has shown no interest in food anymore, and little interest in drinking. The poor thing is almost nothing but skin and bones. What are some methods we can use to try and get him to eat? We have special food for him, but all he does is lick off the juice and walk away. He barely eats enough to keep himself going. The vets say he doesn't want to eat because he has a high level of toxins in his blood due to his kidneys not working properly. This causes him to feel nautious and therefore unwilling to eat. Are there any cat experts with suggestions of how we can get him to eat?

Thanks.

I'm going on vacation in a couple of months and am thinking about leaving my two kitties in a kennel. I've never done that before. Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with kennels? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks!!

This question was asked of me being the know it all animal lover I am, but this one got me. A friend of mine thinks her small poodle (who is not neutered) may have gotten to her cat when she was in heat. Is this even possible?

I know no one can tell me what to do. I nd to make the decision myself. I just need some help. I feel like I am killing him with the euthanasia- not putting him to sleep. I feel God might not understand. I need to do the right thing for him.
Anybody gone thru similiar situations/struggles?

Thanks

My kitten is just going for her first shots tomorrow. Is it okay to ask questions concerning litters, kitten foods, fleas, ect. mainly things concerning her health? And is it smart to make a list of the things you'd like to ask?

P.S. You don't schedule a time, usauly you just call about half an hour in advance if the cat is just getting shots.

There's nothing more he likes to eat than candy and sugar drinks, the more sugar the better! He hates artificial sweeteners too! Any type!

It's affecting my diet because I have chronic fatigue syndrome and am not supposed to be eating sugar which I love as well.

My boyfreind and I want to get a cat and he is moving in with me. However, if he has to move out then I want him to take the cat. He says that cats hate moving more than they hate changing owners and he wants to wait until we are sure of what place we are settlingn down in before buying a cat.

What kitty litter is the best to start off. My kitten is 3-4 months old and this will be her first time to use a litter box. Which would you say is the less stinkiest and best to use? Also is there a kind just for kittens? And do I need to keep the same kind of litter when she is older if there isn't a litter just for kittens? Thanks!!!

Just moved rooms and now my cat thinks he is still in his old room. He knows where his cat box is and food and water but he still sits in the same window in the old room. How do I break him of this without shutting him out of parts of the house?

My kiiten has fleas, and tomorrow it is going to start living in the house! :-) But it has to have a flea bath and collar before coming in. Can I buy something that you put in the water to get rid of fleas (like from Wal-Mart) or something? Do your cats wear flea collars and do thay work? She is about 3-4 months old or somewhere around there.

P.S. Tomorrow she is having her first visit to the vet!

I took him to different Vets they all gave him different medicines he used to get better for a couple of weeks and then get all the sneezing and running nose again ... the last vet told me that it doesn't have a cure and that he will live with this flu forever ... now i took him to another vet because he got worse .. the vet told me that they made him special kind of antibiotic and that the dosage is 3 times daily .. and they have to give him some kind of vitamins after the each dosage ... i saw the cat today he got really skinny and dizzy !! ... the vet said that if he survived this week he will live but if he didn't then he will die ... i just want to know is it normal that cats die out of flu !! and is it true that some kind of cat's flu dont have any cure !?

I have a female cat (about 1 year old), white hair. She has always had a thin covering of hair on her ears, compared to her brother (black haired), or maybe I just notice it more as it's white hair.

I have noticed over the last number of weeks that the hair on the white cat is disappearing from her ears and her ears are very pink (always a little pink, but now quite noticeable).

What could be causing this and should I be worried?

Should i get my cat fixed?
I know that everyone says you should because theres enough unwanted cats and i agree with this but what if you were going to keep them all or find really good homes. Like if i let her have babies i would try to find great homes but if i couldn't i would keep them...i just would really love to experience a cat giving birth and i am really interested in it! its not a for sure thing but i am 50/50 on what to do...also she is an only cat indoors and when i breed her (if i do) i will pick a friends cat that is healthy to be the father...

The kittens can eat meat from a plate and sometimes crackers, but they refuse to drink water from a bowl. I tried dunking their heads in before. They will only drink water from a bottle. The best i can do is tie the bottles to a chair so they can drink it themselves. They're a month or two old by now.

I have a 25 pound Maine coon. I know Maine Coon cats a larger but 25lbs is too much. He is only 5 years old. I have changed his food to a more healthy type per vet recommendation. My problem is he cries for food almost all day. It has become a comfort thing for him. Anytime a person comes through the front door he runs to his dish or when I brush him, he hears me get up in the morning, I walk by his dish, anything he runs for food.
He meows so loud and for as long as it takes for me to give in and feed him. He doesn't eat human food at all. I need advice on how to break his habbit behavior.
Also advice on exercise for cats. he does have open access to the outdoors. thank you

My 2 year old cat has not had anythin to eat or drink since Saturday morning, she is sleeping all the time and looks very ill, i noticed a very hard lump on her neck. She wont let me touch it, she growles and hisses at me. I telephoned the Vet this morning on emergency for help. She thinks that its an abscess, i was told that i could bring her in on emergancy today but before she even looks at her it woul be a £65 fee. The vet made me an appointment for tomorrow afternoon and told me to keep an eye on her. She said that my cat would be running a very high tempreture and that the abscess could burst and that i was not to worry. Has anyone had an abcess experience before? an when i tke her to the vets what will they do?
