Should i get my cat fixed?
I know that everyone says you should because theres enough unwanted cats and i agree with this but what if you were going to keep them all or find really good homes. Like if i let her have babies i would try to find great homes but if i couldn't i would keep them...i just would really love to experience a cat giving birth and i am really interested in it! its not a for sure thing but i am 50/50 on what to do...also she is an only cat indoors and when i breed her (if i do) i will pick a friends cat that is healthy to be the father...

i live on about 10 acres in the country and i would get mother and babies fixed after they are old enough...also i would only give them to people who really want them, do you think it's a good idea to put like a 20 dollar price on kittens when selling them to make sure the people taking the kitten really is committed to it?

I have 2 Persians and I am getting my female fixed on Wednesday, she already had kittens twice first only only one and the second time 3 , all males!!
It is a great experience, makes you more sensitive with animals and gives you a good reason to not be depressed, it is a good experience to see life develop.
I love all my kittens, the oldest is living in a cat grooming place and he is a huge ball of fur, he is well treated and they love him, I was lucky to find a great place for him, right now the 3 last kittens are 8 weeks and soon they will be going to new homes, One to Tallahassee with the wife of a childhood friend but I still have 2 kittens without a family. It is very hard to find good responsible families for kittens.
Anyway, I am done with kittens, they are a huge responsibility and they are very messy and mischievous, if you think you can deal with that and you can assume all that responsibility ....go for it!! but remember that 1 or 2 times is enough , more than that and your female can get breast tumors ( vet told me that)
Good luck!

well i know how you feel you want to experience the birth of cute little kitten i did the same thing and now i have to find homes for three beautiful kittens which is allot harder than u would think and there is always the worry that the loving homes where you place the kittens will not stay that away and your adorable baby's will end up on the streets or even worse being put to sleep due to the fact that they cant afford vet care for one reason or another my female is being fixed in about 3 weeks when i get paid so we don't have to go through this again. i hope this helps you know what you should do because its not just the kittens its also the mothers health you have to worry about.

Are you willing to be responsible for up to 4 - 7 kittens? Are you sure you can find them good homes where they will not end up being thrown out like garbage? There are so many kittens waiting to be adopted at shelters......and they have been spayed/altered and have shots.
If you really want to see a mama cat and kittens call your local shelter and see if they can help? Ask what they think about more kittens in the area you live? When there are sooo many kittens waiting to be adopted I don't think it's a good idea to add more to the list!!

Even if you fiind homes for the kittens or keep them, it means you will have produced more cats. If you can find homes for some kittens or if you can keep some more at home, if I were you I would try to do that in order to rescue some cats who already exist and live in shelters, and they will probably be killed if no one takes them. So practically one cat will be killed for every kitten your cat will produce. I am sorry about that, I know birth and motherhood is something sweet for a cat and a cat owner, but that's exactly the problem: we look at our own situation and miss the big picture. And the big picture is that I keep finding unwanted kittens in garbage bags, and now I am trying to find a home for one, but I can't because people like you who want to have cats already have yhe kittens their cat gave birth to. So, although I understand how you feel, I think you should spay her.

Please have your cat spayed. Please. I am literally begging you.
Look at it this way: Maybe you can find a good home for all 4-6 kittens. That's 4-6 homes that 4-6 shelter cats maybe could have had. Maybe they die instead.
The world really is overflowing with unwanted cats and kittens. If you want to see the miracle of birth, why not volunteer at a shelter or get a job at a vet's office?

You should get your cat fixed. If you want kittens running around your house, find a shelter that will let you foster a pregnant cat. This way you can experience "life" without adding to the problem of overpopulation.
The only responsible thing to do would be to get her fixed. It would be unethical and immoral to allow her to "breed".

Yes you really should! Kittens are great but did you know that:
One unaltered female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats in just seven years if they all survive and all go on to breed. Unless you plan on getting the newborn kittens fixed as well as the mother afterwards..i would. Good luck

Yes, you may find good homes for your kittens but for each cat you find a home for another one in the pound is being put down. I know you have the room for the kittens but they also need to be vet and have vet visits. Get her desexed...

I haven't gotten mine fixed either. I have no intention to breed her, but its the financial situtation. ANYWAY... the only bad thing about a cat in heat is that they cry, and cry, and cry... It gets quite annoying. The plus side is, they don't bleed all over like dogs do. I don't know that keeping "in tact" just because you are curious about the birthing process is a good idea though. That isn't really fair. Read a book if you are interested. You probably won't see her give birth anyway, they tend to hide to do that.
