Mammary tumors do not respond to chemotherapy or radiation, surgery is the only remedy. Unfortunately, once the tumors start appearing it is too late to actually eradicate the cancer, and it will continue to cause tumors and complications.

I'm sorry about your cat, cancers are very difficult to control. When her bad days start outnumbering her good days, please do her the courtesy of euthanasia.

When my cat's breast cancer was "discovered" (a neutered male cat no less) it had already metastisized to his lungs and he had to be euthanized a couple of weeks later.

I do think that cats get chemotherapy and/or radiation for that condition. It is a very aggressive form of cancer in cats (not so much in dogs).

You should join the Yahoo group feline-cancer. Go to: http://yahoogroups.com and request membership. There are a number of cats currently being treated for mammary cancer. I don't follow the posts about them as much as those cats who have oral SCC as that is what I am currently dealing with. You will be able to review many cases of this cancer and learn what treatments are being used, what is most successful and receive support from other members as you go down this unfortunate path with your cat.
