Just moved rooms and now my cat thinks he is still in his old room. He knows where his cat box is and food and water but he still sits in the same window in the old room. How do I break him of this without shutting him out of parts of the house?

actually thats good, because when i moved my cat went nuts, he was meowing 24/7 and if i left he would hide really good. The vet told me its good to set the room up as if it was your old room because it makes the cat more comfortble and not so stressed out.

Short of shutting him out, you really can't.

Cats are creatures of habit.

You have 2 options:

1) Close the door to that room and keep it closed forever- or at least until he finds a spot he likes better.
2) Leave the door open so he can sit in that window and just let it slide.

Well once a cat has found a spot he/she likes it is hard to break it from that spot. Find a spot in the new room similar to the one he stays at now. After you have done this when your cat is at his favorite spot bring him to the new spot and shut the door to the old or new room. Every time you find your cat at the old spot bring it to the new one. It may work and may not work, it depends how stubborn your cat is!

If hes not a problem with someone else in that room let him enjoy his window ...

Or try putting him in ur room window for a couple of days put him up there let him know its your new spot ...

Good Luck

Let him be. Don't you like to watch nature? That is what he is doing. He is very curious. Leave him alone! He loves it.

that is probably his favorite window, and he just doesnt want to change. if he's not bothering anyone, why not let him stay in his window?
