He has a bald spot on his head, and the vet says its a possibality that it may be ringworm.

We just got him 2 weeks ago and he started to grow a bald spot on his head. The vet said that our small dog might like him too much and lick his head a lot and watch out for that. it has been 2 days and I can see little hairs starting to grow back. The vet also said that if he DOES have a ringworm then we will see more spots on him. The vet concluded it all with a " Give it a week and if his hair grows back, he's ok. but if it gets worse, with more spots, etc, take him back and we will test him." He is not acting different, always playful. I looked up a piture of a at with ringworm on googe and I saw a cat who also had a bald spot, but it was orange looking. My kitten, Oscar, just has a regular bald spot and there is no orange, just a little "boo-boo" from our 3 year old dog who may have been playing too rough. PLEASE tell me what my kitten may, or may not have.

Seriously, take him to the vet and DEMAND a test. or better yet, take him to a different vet. It's a very simple test for the vet to see if it's ringworm... which is WAY more likely than a puppy licking a very specific spot repeatedly!
Ringworm can be VERY contagious so you need to take care of it ASAP unless you and everyone else in your houshold want to be covered in ugly, itchy sores!

Treatment is usually a topical antifungal cream applied twice per day for 6-8 weeks (yes it does take that long) though in extreme cases there are oral medications for it.

the test is simple, they take a couple of hairs from the area put it in a cultue and in a couple of days they'll know for sure if it's ringworm. I don't know why your vet wouldn't test it immediately.

i would say take him to the vet to make sure as it is very contagious. One way to get rid of it cheaply is to use yeast infection cream i was told this by my vet it will not hurt them and works within a week to kill it. Just make sure to get it about half an inch into the healthy looking skin and fur or it may come back. hope this helps.

your cat does have ringworm, take it to a vet quick. the way you can tell if your cat has ringworm is if it has bald spots, crusting of the cats skin, and stubbled hair. ^_^ glad i can be of help

The vet should of scrapped a bit off to look under the microscope to see if it is or not.they have to get special pills at the vet to get rid of those things ; and they are really catchy; so wash your hand when ever you touch your pet' so you don;t get it.If the vet didn;t even check it out under the microscope ; i would get another vet asap....good luck to you all,,.,.,.,

Take it to the vet and ask them if they can check it out, usually theyll just spend a few minutes and if it does hell give you meds or tell you where you can get them.
