It's not possible due to a thing called genetics and chromosones, the components that make up the structure of a cell. Simply put, trying to breed the two different species of animals would be like trying to Interchange engine parts between a Volkswagon beetle and a Kenworth diesel rig. The parts just don't fit each other. In much the same way, the cells (parts) of different animals are not interchangable, because the different parts just don't (and can't) fit with each other, so you can't make an animal that's half cat and half dog. Besides, have YOU ever seen a cat and a dog who were that friendly?

Though such a coupling is physically possible nothing would come of it. Genetically they are incompatible. Naturally they would not ever attempt such a coupling. I guess that being couped up in a house with no alternatives they might get desperate enough to try. BUT I doubt it.

No. Dogs and cats have different numbers of genetic chromosome "pairs." It is impossible for these animals to create some kind of mutant dog/cat creature because of this, luckily. XD

Its not possible, different kinds of cats can breed with each other and different kinds of dogs can breed with each other, but dogs and cats are two completely different species.

I don't doubt that the dog might have humped the cat, but its not unusual for dogs to hump legs, stuffed animals, shoes... you name it

no. if it was possible scientists wouldn't have to try and combine cat DNA and dog DNA to make something out of it.
