Hello. I was wondering if any of you opted for the extra services offered when you spay/neutered your cat. My vet recommend inside stutures, the collar thing, and pain medication. Well all these cost extra on top of the regular fee for spaying. I know I'm doing the right thing by spaying my cat (plus she was driving crazy going into heat) but I didn't think it was this expensive! Are all these things necessary? Did anyone else pay for this extras?

I have two kittens that are 10 weeks old. They have two scratching posts that they play on loads but never actually scratch! They use the sofa or our dining chairs instead - how can I encourage them to scratch where they are supposed to? Apart from that they are really really good and the sweetest kittens in the world.

The problem is I have 4 cats. Three aren't overweight, but one is. I haven't been too concerned because they are all young, the oldest is just over 2 years old. They are all fixed, but it seems that one has gained more weight than the others. I feel bad because I don't think its fair to make one eat less than the other 3. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

When my cats were born, a month later they developed colds and something like sore eyes, and usually have some morning stars in their eyes, you know, like the one's we have in our eyes when we wake up in the morning, but a lot more than that. I thought it would be alright because its mother was caring for the two of them. I didn't mind much. About another month later the cats wanted to go out of the house, so I let them go out during the day, and then I would put them in when it got dark. A week later they started to have soft, watery stool and aren't as big as before. There are some pet shops with veterinarians here in my province but they will not give you advice unless you buy their medicines, but they're way too expensive. I just need to know what to do. If I need to buy medicines, I have to know the names and other things I have to do. Please help me...

I have a 7 year old calico female. She's been to the vet in January and checked out fine. She began protesting by her old littler location, so we moved it to where she was deficating. Now, she is doing it next to the box. If she goes to bed in at all a bad mood, she does it! This is driving us crazy! We cannot be with her all day long, we both work, I'm in school, and we have another cat we need to keep from her!
My hubby wants to get rid of her, but I don't want her to go somewhere where she'll be killed!

Help! What do I do? I adore cats, but even this one is too "needy"!

I have seen this cat in my yard, chased it off...done everything, have spent many dollars on products, gadgets....nothing works! Neighbor knows...told her and she ripped my head off. She said the cat craps all over her kitchen counters and can't keep it in the house for the safethy of her daughter. But when I tell her my daughter's health is at risk...she could care less. I can't imagine harming the cat ... not its fault ... I blame the owner...I have tried everything possible....nothing has worksed...cat is old...can't hear...probably can't smell either...nothing works. It's hopeless and seems so unfair...to me...people like this should not have pets!!! HELP...for my kids' sake!

I have a gorgeous 2 year old cat that I bought from the farm when she was 3 months old. I have raised her by myself and my schedule changes sometimes so she is used to being alone, especially in the day. I recently brought in an eight week old male kitten to my house and she hates him. I understand she's worried about territory and all that, but will they ever get along? What other issues could there be?

I plan to take it out to the nearby park and give it toys, but is it cruel to leave it alone in an apartment all day while my boyfriend and I are both at work? Will it get lonely? It's a new kitten.

the left side of his face is all messed up, it looked like he had all kinds of gunk or something in his fur, I tried to pick it off and it pulled off his fur and everything there with it, underneath it all, he has spots that look all nasty like they are infected, one is about the size of a quarter and is not bleeding, but has like a clearish white fluid oozing out of it and the other spots look like cuts or something and he is bleeding there well it's dried up some now..it is really gross and I've never seen anything like this before. I didn't hurt him or anything, he layed there and moved his head like he wanted me to help him with it, and never cried, his fur just peeled off as it was like it was all stuck together in a big old furry lump. I treated it with alcohol and don't know what else to do, I can't afford a vet right now.anyone seen this kind of thing before and know what it could possible be..I'm stumped

The symptoms: left eye extracts a white/green goo, like a human booger. It gets to where he can't open his eye very well, either that or he chooses not to because it hurts, I don't know. I've been cleening the gooey stuff off of his eye with a wet cloth for the past week and it seems to have gotten just a tiny bit better. He isn't yowling anymore when i clean it. When he first got this eye cold(at least that's what I was told it was by my mom) he would just sit there, like a cat on a leash. When I started cleaning it/wiping off the goo he beahaved like his usual self. Ecsept he doesn't play with his toys anymore. (He's an outside kitten and is very adventurous). Is this more of a reson to take him to the vet or does anyone think it will heal on it's own? So far I don't think his eye has gotten any better. There was a time, though, that he could open his eye pretty well, but now he likes to keep it shut most of the time. PLEASE HELP ME!

She seems to be normal except for the fact that her ears are warmer than they usually are. Usually they're pretty cool.

I have two Bengal Cats and I think they would really enjoy going for a walk every once in a while. I know they have little kitty harnesses and leashes.
Since cats clean themselves, would it be harmful if something happened to stick to there paw or they laid in the grass?
Will they constantly be trying to go out?
Could they get fleas or ticks?
Could they develop health problems from being outside?
What should I be concerned about?
Thanks.

feces--i know that when your pregnant you are not supposed to change the litter box. but what is toximia... (?) exactly. is it the littler fumes? or the feces? or them together? what is the dangerous part? we have an automatic box but sometimes it needs more littler to be added, can i do that? or when the cat accidentially gets feces on the floor, can i clean that up? does anyone know exactly what is the problem, i don't want to put my child at risk, but we want to keep the cat.

She has been producing a lot of eye boogers today and she is acting sensitive to light when she looks at it in her right eye. It is closed, not swollen or red though.

I posted a question about my cat, which I don't like, asking if he is sick. Now the world thinks I am an animal abuser. My wife got the cat 8 years ago. He has never missed a checkup, is vaccinated, is micro-chipped, lives inside, sleeps in my bed, is fed vet recommended food, litter is changed constantly and is loved by the majority of people in my house. I have dental records for this stupid cat. But because I do not like him...and I have my reasons...I am now an outcast, a villian, persona-non-grata in the cat loving community.

How many sweet little old ladies love cats, love them so much that they have 40 in their garage?

How can I reconcile with the cat loving community and still keep my anti-this particular cat platform and agenda?

My cat seems to have some gunk-like stuff that looks a bit like chocolate in his fur. He won't let me get close enough to examine it. So, I was wondering if anyone had any tips as to how I should go about bathing him, since the gunk needs to go either way.

my brothers cat found a bump in his skin and brought him to the vet. the vet said it was fat buildup and they would call him back when the blood tests were done. well they called and said our cat might have kidney disease. the cat is 8 years old going on 9 and has had an experience with fleas last year. what could have caused this? i have another cat who lives with this cat, the other cat is only 4 but should i get him checked out too?
