Just like any species, it will vary from individual to individual. It can be as early as 4 months, or as late as a year old. If you look at certain cat breeds on the whole, there is some variation as well. Domestic short hairs tend to hit sexual maturity before domestic long hairs, and mixed breeds sooner than pure breeds.
Typically speaking, it's generally around 6 months - which is why vet's recommend spay/neuter then. However, you can do it earlier without a problem, as long as the cat weighs enough to be under anesthesia.

From 5 months old, certainly by 6-7 months. I have seen four month old cats pregnant though. This is why you need to spay at around 5 - 5 1/2 months old, and keep the cat inside until this is done.

I work to help rescue stray and feral cats and I've seen kittens as young as 4 months go into heat.
At one time it was thought that a cat couldn't be spayed until 6 months...now days most if not all Vets will spay much earlier than that.
The Vet we use for our rescues will spay at 2 months and the cats get along fine...in fact we've found the younger they are when spayed the sooner they recover from the surgery.

I have raised cats for 20 years. Cats/kittens can go into heat as early as 5 months. This is why, inless you are breeding them that this is the suggested time of spaying and neuturing.

It depends on the breed but I've been told by two different breeders that Tonkinese can go into heat as early as 4 months. I think most are around 6 months.

Usually around 5-7 months old, but you should have her spayed before that anyway.
