I posted a question about my cat, which I don't like, asking if he is sick. Now the world thinks I am an animal abuser. My wife got the cat 8 years ago. He has never missed a checkup, is vaccinated, is micro-chipped, lives inside, sleeps in my bed, is fed vet recommended food, litter is changed constantly and is loved by the majority of people in my house. I have dental records for this stupid cat. But because I do not like him...and I have my reasons...I am now an outcast, a villian, persona-non-grata in the cat loving community.
How many sweet little old ladies love cats, love them so much that they have 40 in their garage?
How can I reconcile with the cat loving community and still keep my anti-this particular cat platform and agenda?

I think Miss Carol B is a pretty sharp lady and is on to me...a sweet little old lady I might add. Said cat will go to the vet and I will keep up my vigil against the cat-mommy-son bloc in the house.

I like you, you have a good sense of humour. You dont have to like your cat just respect him. Do I detect a little jealousy? !

I don't think it was the fact that you don't like the cat (I can respect your right to not like the cat, I don't like most of the people I meet) but more the fact that you implied, in an off-hand way, that you would rather the cat meet an early demise than really find out what was wrong with it that got the hackles of the pet loving population raised. Maybe you were joking.. maybe you only made the joke because it's true.. either way, did you really feel the need to tell a bunch of folks you've never met before that you hate your wife's cat? Does he bother you *that* much? It probably would have been better if you had just asked for advice on the cat and left the personal feelings toward the cat out of it, since your personal feelings for the cat really had no bearing on the question or any answer to the question.

Depends on your reasoning for not liking your cat. You do need to remember though, the cat might be like a family member to you, and you know it so well that it seems like it is conscious of every lttle move it is making, when in reality it is still merely a cat..
My cat almost destroyed my husband's lap top, they were friends again the next day because, in his eyes, she is still just a cat, she didn't know what she did, she has no concept of money or value, and yet, she showed so much remorse because she knew that my husband was mad at her..
They don't ask us for anything but love, food, and a safe place to sleep until the day they pass. You've gone above and beyond your duty to the cat, and if you did choose to find the cat another home, it would be easy with all of the care you have put into him/her.

It sounds like you love your wife and family more than you hate the cat. I think that's cool. My live-in didn't really like the cat I moved in with but when she had to be put to sleep he was so great about it, and when I was ready he even snuck around behind my back to find a new feline companion.
Your wife is lucky and so is the cat, even if you don't like him. You do help take care of him.
I'd say don't worry about this particular cat community and keep doing what you're doing.

There are cat people and then people who just aren't. You just aren't a cat person..you do the $%^# you're supposed to, you just don't sit around providing a lap.. no biggie, sounds like the wife does. My bf hated cats..when he moved in he learned he had to tolerate mine. He feeds her if her dish is empty, lifts her up if she wants on the bed (she can't jump up..neurological disorder) but you won't find him sitting there scratching her chin either. Don't worry about peoples opinions too much. Cat lovers can never understand why everyone isn't one....
PS I absolutely ADORE my cat..but there are still days I wonder, just the teeniest bit, why I kept her..like when I realized her vet bills equaled about 3 months rent, and I probably logged enough hours during her illness to have completed at least one college course.

I answered your previous question and all I wonder is this.... why did you even say that you didn't like the cat in the first place??
Why not just ask for help, without the comments? How was it relevant to the question?
I smell an attention seeker!
P.S. I don't think you're an animal abuser and I don't dislike you! Just thought that it was irrelevant to say you don't like the cat. It's bound to spark a reaction isn't it?

If you find a sweet little old lady who has 38 cats, let me know. I have two lovely cats who I would happily give to her to make up the desired number 40.

i have the same thing with cats.
you're not alone.
a dog i can read, cats baffle me.
how can they jump 2 animal abuse when all you said was you don't like the cat?
there's some very up-tight people on here.
laugh at 'em?
they don't know anything about you or your cat!
i bet all of them have at some point, come across people they don't like, for no real reason, they just don't get on.
& what do you know, sometimes you can get that with a cat.
they'll forgive you in time,
probably start on me, but at least they'll be leaving you alone, huh?

well, you're taking very good care of the cat. it sounds like it's your wife's cat. if you don't have a problem with the cat living there, you just don't like it, that's not a big deal and the "cat loving community" (which I'm a part of lol) needs to pull the big cat infested tree out of their ***'s. you shouldn't care what they think. you are not abusing the cat. you just don't like the cat. it's not like the cat looses any sleep over you not liking it. Just tell them that you take care of this cat, your wife loves the cat. and you respect the cat lol you just don't like him.
Good Luck!

Sounds like the cat is getting the royal treatment. As long as you aren't physically abusing it then everything is fine. Not everyone likes cats. I do though! I'm glad to see that you are allowing your wife to keep the cat. Don't listen to what other people are telling you. I think everythings cool!

LOL, it's obvious to anyone who can read this that the cat is not abused. People, I guess, just want a perfect world & have problems seeing this cannot always be the case.
I respect you stnading up for your right to not like a cat, it happens & I am sure you have your reasons, as you have stated.
