hi everyone, i have two cats, mittens and mr. snickers, and have a question. i moved recently and when i did it was to expensive to afford those fancy pet carriers, plus i think theyre mean t he cats. they hate being couped up! when we moved i put them in a no-tear hefty bag and it worked okay because they settled down after a few minutes of strugglign and then were real quiet the whole rest of the trip.

anyway, my question is i don't want to use the hefty bag on account of mittens and mr. snickers were real sleepy for a while afterwards. do you think this would be better?
http://dbhs.wvusd.k12.ca.us/webdocs/Humor/cat-carrier.jpg

it seems like it would keep them from going crazy and scratching me in the car (Like they did when i tried driving them loose), but maybe they wouldn't get so sleepy like in the hefty bag or feel couped up like in the carrier (even if i could afforded one)?

thanks you.

Tonight I picked up Polly (age 14-16, Siamese-Domestic Shorthair cross). She was urinating as I lifted her and I got cat pee on my hand and arm and on the rug. There was quite a bit. I put her down and she ran downstairs. She is showing signs of aging. Is incontinence a symptom of aging? What else could it be? Thanks!

I have two cats. The first, Jane, always uses the scratching post. Her sister, Emma, never does. Instead, she scratches the door frame of my bedroom door. I've been spraying her with a water bottle for months, and she doesn't seemed fazed. She'll run away and then come back in a few minutes and do it again.

I've also moved the scratching post up against the door frame so that she would scratch that instead, but she just climbs up the post and scratches the wood.

I think she's doing it for attention because she only does it at night when my fiancee and I are alseep and after she's been crying for a few minutes for attention (in the wee hours of the morning). Sometimes my fiancee gets up to give her the attenton she wants but it only postpones the scratching.

How can I get her to stop this behavior? I really don't want her to destroy the door frame any more than she has!

without meowing all the way. I used to have a friend who's cat would just sit in the back seat etc and sleep so they were able to take her on holidays. We have a 5 and a half month old Ragdoll who will need to travel with us by car at Christmast for a 7 hour trip.

He tries to clean it, but doesn't make it. I've had him for 5 months now. His tail is long and furry that it brushes against the poo when he steps out.

I have a covered litter box. When he comes out from pooping his butt and backside of his tale has poo on it. He is not good at cleaning himself. I put him into the bathtub and clean his butt area which he hates and I hate doing this every 4 days or so.

And, when he poos, sometimes the poo sticks to his tail and gets hardened and he doesn't care at that point.

I'm just wondering if you all could help me with this problem.

Thank you all for any suggestions:

So, we are fostering three kittens less than a week old. We may keep and may not keep them.
The problem is: A few days ago, we wanted to adopt a 5 month old kitten from a animal shelter. Our application was rejected-they said it was because our first cat died. So a few days later, we got a phone call from a different animal shelter that we applied for kitten fostering. We got three kittens. But then a few days after we got the three kittens, the old animal shelter called saying that they made a mistake and that our application was not rejected.

We don't know if we should get the cat we liked cause there'll be too many in the house. Also, if we do not like that cat, we can't return it. My mom was disappointed in the kittens, doesn't plan to keep them after we wean them, because she is still holding on to our old cat that died in january. She wants the cat from the first shelter, but what if shes still disappointed with the new cat? And the different aged kittens may not get along?

She just wanders around the apartment crying to herself. I don't understand what her problem is. She has food and water and toys and i keep her litter box very clean because i'm not supposed to have pets so i don't want it to smell. She's about 9 months old and hasn't been around other animals since she was born....what is her issue and how do i keep her from crying ALL THE TIME!?!?!

My boyfriend and i put in an application to adopt a 16 week male kitten on sunday. Im worried about how the two cats will interact with eachother. When the female resident cat smelled the male kittens' scent on my jacket she hissed. We had a previously bad experience when i moved in with my boyfriend and his 6 month old female cat. .

I have one of those hooded litter boxes with the little steps going up on the left hand side, and whenever she goes inside she starts mewing, almost like a whine. I'm not sure if this is while she's doing the do, but if I try to peek inside she gets freaked out and will run away. When she comes out she seems fine. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

My sweet cat girl has gotten quite chubby (yes, we're putting her on a diet). I know whiskers help a cat determine if it can squeeze through narrow spaces. I'm wondering if she is benefiting from her whiskers as much now that she has a more buxom form.

I am searching for the truth about dry verses wet. Some vets say only dry some say only wet. The mspca when adopting a cat give you dry and wet. They will tell you give the dry as meals give wet as snack.
Please can someone tell me what is best for my cat.
p.s. I also heard fresh cooked chicken is good

My cat has a sore on his side, have took him to the vets several times, & each time theyve given him antibotics, that seem to be doing nothing for him & costing me a bomb. Does anyone know of anything that i can get or do for him that may help? Someone said to try root powder to help dry it, anyone know if its ok to apply to a cat?

My son and girlfriend snuck the cats in home without my knowing. Her mother is highly allergic... Girlfriend states that they are her cats and we need to follow these rules- mind you she never had a cat we have 3 beside these 2. She just works at a Vets office and both sone and her pay the vet bills.
Rules: cats must be locked up in son's room 24/7 when he is not home, we are not to play with them or show any type of affection unless son or she is present, we are only and only to feed them 1x per day 1/4 cup for both cats not even each... (she has issues with being fat and if the cats eat as directed they will become fat).We caught them eating from the sink, they r
not allowed to sleep with us or roam around at night. She has stated to my son that she doesn't want the cats and our family to have a relationship. She has seen in the past that we are not abiding by her rediculous rules and now she is threatenting to take cats away and poor son is in the middle.. Whose cats are these.

I've recently bought and grown "cat grass" from my local petsmart. My cat loves it, but for the past few days he's been throwing up. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I know that grass is supposed to help with digestion, but for some reason, could it be making him sick? It says its supposed to be safe, etc., but I'd like other's opinion who have delt with this before.

Thanks in advance! :)

Re: Cat Behaviour

I'm sorry I don't seem to be able to add addictional deatils to my original question. She was a foster with me from one week old. I fell in love with her and not her sisters/brothers as she was the first to Miaw at me, first to always be on my knee and cried for the attention if I walked past her. I would not trade her for the world.
My own fault for attending her every needs. I am lucky to have such a loving cat was just worried over the nipping. I love the fact that someone mentioned it was love bites! Thanks for all your answers!

Hi! My cat is pregnant and she will be having her kittens within a week. We set up food, water, a litter box, and a kittening box for her to have her kittens in. But, how do I know if she has accepted it to lay her kittens in it? If we go in that room too much, will she not feel safe laying them there? If that is not a good place to keep them, what would be a good place? Thanks for all the help! I know I am asking soooo many questions but this is my first time having a cat that had her own kittens! :-)

I'm thinking about volunteering at the adoptions fairs for an animal rescue organization. If I pet other cats and come home with other cats' scents on my shirt, will my cat react negatively? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've never owned a cat before.

I saved an abused cat from Wisconson about 5 years ago. I nursed her back to health and she is the greatest thing ever! She has always followed me around the house and slept at my feet since day one. But lately, when she follows me, she meows very loudly to get my attention. She won't stop until I pet her. I am concerned. Is this her way of getting attention because I spoil her or is something wrong?
