hi everyone, i have two cats, mittens and mr. snickers, and have a question. i moved recently and when i did it was to expensive to afford those fancy pet carriers, plus i think theyre mean t he cats. they hate being couped up! when we moved i put them in a no-tear hefty bag and it worked okay because they settled down after a few minutes of strugglign and then were real quiet the whole rest of the trip.

anyway, my question is i don't want to use the hefty bag on account of mittens and mr. snickers were real sleepy for a while afterwards. do you think this would be better?

it seems like it would keep them from going crazy and scratching me in the car (Like they did when i tried driving them loose), but maybe they wouldn't get so sleepy like in the hefty bag or feel couped up like in the carrier (even if i could afforded one)?

thanks you.

A plastic Hefty bag???? The reason they were so sleepy after-wards was from breathing their own carbondioxide. My cat loves her "BYE-BYE BOX". I bring it out a couple days before we go somewhere, put her blanket in it. I open the door every couple hours to feed & let her use the litter box

What made you think it was okay to put the cats into a hefty bag. Bags do the same thing to animals as they do to humans, it suffocates them. Duh. anyone with a brain knows that. Try getting your cats 2 separate cat carriers. I would not use the carriers that you have posted on here. That is too cruel to do to a cat. You are sticking a screw up their butt and putting their heads into a muzzle thing. Regular Carriers are not that expensive $20-40 at best. Keep them in the carrier if you don't want them getting in the way of you moving or anything else. You have to learn to deal with them meowing and throwing a fit. That's what they do. I have 2 KITTENS and both are the same way. Meow their heads off when they get into the carrier. I've learned to tune them out and concentrate on driving or whatever I'm doing at that time. Please whatever you do, DO NOT put your cats into a garbage bag again. That is animal cruelty.

i completely agree with the other guys answer. A hefty bag is most definitely not the right way to transport your cats. You can often find cheap animls transport crates that allow the animal to move around a bit, see, hear and breathe. All you need to do is hunt around for one. They make the crates because it is the safest way to transport your animal, if the crates were unsafe or cruel, do you think animal health organisations would alllow them to be manufactured and used by millions of pet owners? If it is the money you are concerned about, think of it this way, it will be a one off payment that will ensure the safety and comfort of your pets anytime you travel. If you keep using a hefty bag there is no doubt that one day you'll get to where you're going and find your pets dead on the back seat. Fork out the money and ensure your cats, and you, travel safe.

Ok, first off, I could smack you good for using a hefty bag for carrying ANYTHING that has a pulse. They are settleing down because they are running out of OXYGEN. The cat carriers that are out there are not cruel at all. Since they dont make cat car seats, they are actually, very safe and if you add a comfy towel or 2, they are quite cozy for the cat. It makes them secure. The only reason they yell when they are in the kennel is because they want their freedom but its US that know how to protect them. And its not cruel at all.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont ever use a bag on them again. THAT is cruelty.
