I recently got a dog, but before that I had a cat yes they shave the tummy, but not the whole cat. They have to shave the whole tummy because they need to see more accuretly at the incision anyway...it isn't a stupid question most people don't know they are just pretending thank god you're not one of those people LOL!

(BRAVE ENOUGH TO ASK) =)

Her tummy will be shaved from where her ribs end down to her privates. Just the soft part of the belly where they make the cut. Depending on what they use to close her with will depend on if she needs stitches removed later, they dissolve them self, or you don't even see stitches. I've seen vets use all different ways so listen to the directions when you pick her up.

Also ask when it will be ok for her to have water and food because of the different types of anesthetic used some times you want to wait a few hours before offering the animal a small meal.

Good for you, planning to have your pet spayed!

You can take your cat to any veterinarian or animal hospital to have her fixed. The doctor will shave just a small portion of her tummy before surgery, and the fur will grow back fairly quickly.

I have had many female cats spayed. They only shave their belly. It doesn't hurt the kitty. The hair starts to grow back to the length is was, it does not long for it to grow back.

They shave your kittys belly and if they do an IV they will shave her arm as well. They dont shave the whole cat; there is no reason to do so.

It took just about 2 months for my kittens hair to enhance back. yet you may now barley tell the place it replace into shaved. and that that they had carried out a bad job. a million/2 of one of her legs replace into shaved too. LOL. it is going to enhance back, basically provide it some greater time.

My cat had the whole lower part of her tummy shaved. It didn't seem to bother her and it grew back fairly quickly!

they have to shave a little just so they can do their work so not a lot now if she was a tom it would have gotten it's whole body shaved (if you lived in a crappy place like Alex,IN)
