He tries to clean it, but doesn't make it. I've had him for 5 months now. His tail is long and furry that it brushes against the poo when he steps out.

I have a covered litter box. When he comes out from pooping his butt and backside of his tale has poo on it. He is not good at cleaning himself. I put him into the bathtub and clean his butt area which he hates and I hate doing this every 4 days or so.

And, when he poos, sometimes the poo sticks to his tail and gets hardened and he doesn't care at that point.

I'm just wondering if you all could help me with this problem.

Thank you all for any suggestions:

Seriously consider training him to poop in the toilet. There are training kits out at pet stores to accomplish this. And your kitty is young enough to be trained to do his business (#1 and #2) in the human toilet.

I have the same problem, except my cat steps on the poo sometimes on accident, and I have to wash her paws everytime she does that its really nasty. I don't know what you can do I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my cat. I think we should train our cats to poop in the toilet! LOL
