It is very noticable when she gets excited and the pupils are contracting and dialating. The left one is clearly bigger than the right. She is also a bit nuts. She jumps up the side of the wall many times a day at nothing at all and is very mouthy - the only way to describe it would be 'swearing'. This goes on sometimes for hours on end - she runs around and meows violently, this also appears to be at nothing. It is entertaining at times, until she runs into something and nearly knocks herself out. Have had many cats, but this one is like nothing I've seen. Could there be some kind of brain damage?

I recently emaily about my 8 yr cat that suddenly was having "asthma" attacks. I did as rec. and took her to the vet asap. They did a chest xray, heart, and lungs all normal. The vet said it was still just asthma, gave her a steroid shot, (which only helped for appx. 2 hours, I gave her her steroid pills and Albuterol inhaler tx. every hour. To no depair, nothing helped her! Every 7 min. she gasped for air, choking on her saliva, the most horrible thing to go through. She NEVER was out of the house, never sick before, does anyone know of anything else this may have been besides "asthma"? This really bothers me. I stayed with her as they put her down.
ps. they also tried the O2 , but that was to no avail either. I just can't believe this was asthma, it came on so hard and fast and non-relenting.
Rest in peace dear Katie.

I have mentioned this before but never really got a definite answer . My adorable 2 yr old very large male tabby sleeps in his cat bed next to my bed , after a couple of hours in his bed he comes on to mine and starts licking and licking me . I push him away but he slowly crouches down and sneaks next to my pillow again and continues .To me it's kisses , though cats cannot kiss , so what is he actually doing ? Is this sign of love or is it just cat instinct ? Please advise if any body really knows what drives them to do this.

My cat wants to sleep all the time. It will be pounching one minute and then lay down and go to sleep a few minutes later. All it wants to do is sleep. Sometimes while awake the cat will glare nervously at the ceiling fan. The cat will run from the room and hide if we turn the ceiling fan on, but will come back after it bas been running for a while. It will then leave if we shut it off and hide. The cat doesn't like other people and will stay in hiding if we have company until about a hour after everyone leaves. I often find the cat sleeping in wierd places (bottom of the stairs, infront of the door, on a window seat, under the bed next to the heater) and in wierd positions (on its side like a dog, on its back with all four paws in the air, etc). Sometimes the cat will sit and stare at the wall. Is my cat just being a cat or does it have some kind of mental disorder?

Have you ever heard of a cat with diabetes? Is it worth giving it the shots twice a day or should i let her pass?

We have two cats: 1 male, 1 female. The male, after about 4 months in his new home, started crying excessively from around 3am to 11am every night. He's around 5 years old.

We assumed this was because of the move and did our best to ignore it, giving him affection and playtime when he was being quiet.

3 years later, he's *still* doing it. Attempts to pet / play with him fail: not interested whatsoever. He will at times run from one end of the house to the other, sometimes sitting in the shower or tub, far away from where everyone else is, and cry at the wall. it's not near the door outside or a window.

there's moderate chasing of the female at times, but nothing severe that suggests he's having some territorial crisis. As often as he runs around, he's often quite calm, though i assume it's some sort of anxiety. he'll do this regardless of having full food and water and clean litter. when he does want affection, he'll get up on a lap, grab one of our hands and pull it to his face.

My cat has always eaten well but recently he is hungry all the time to the point of stealing food from the kitchen. He is very skinny now and I have started a course of worming tablets.

Now before you frown on me ILL tell you briefly why.Me and my girlfriend bought a beautiful Persian a few months ago,at a discount. What we found out was that she doesnt like to walk around. When she does she jumps on my bed, and pisses on my bed and pillow. We feed her and give her all the love and affection that any cat could get. When we go near her she hisses at us that she about to go to the bathroom right there. When we walk by her,she will go into a violent rage of straching and hissing before going to the bathroom all over.We have taken her to the vet a few times to see what the problem is,but they don't know what it is.Let me say that I've had other cats, and I never had this much trouble in my life.I invested thousands of dollars on her,and Im at my wits end.So my question still stands. Can I have my kitten put to sleep.I don't wan't to however I'm out of option. Also that I exceeded the time to get my money back from the pet shop.I have other stories but im out of space. Thanks

I have a small dog who is 6 years old, fairly sleepy and spends most of his days inside. I am considering getting a cat from the RSPCA or pound and bringing it into our home. I have a doggy-door so the cat would be able to go out but I would lock the cat in at night time. I would like to offer a poor stray cat a comfortable home and I think that my dog would not dislike having a cat around if they were introduced carefully. But I am still worried about a few things: Would my cat and dog tolerate eachother?, Would the cat be difficult to get in at night? Should I get a cat?

He pooped yesterday; and he normally moves his bowels once a day - sometimes in the afternon and sometimes in the evening. It's already 3am and he still hasn't gone. His tummy looks really full. He is sleeping peacefully now. Should I be worried? When is a cat considered to be constipated?

We do tell them not to be on the shelf when we are at hom but thrice I've come home to find the lid off and once, on my boyfriends bday we found one of the fish on the floor and two kitties with wet paws, I picked it up because it wasn't breathing and put it in the toilet then waited for my BF to come back so he could see his fish lo and behold the damn thing pulled a lazarus and the cold water shocked him back to life my question is how do we teach the cats to leave the fish alone?

I have a five year old cat, and I need to find her another home because my wife is pregnant. She is not the nicest cat in the world, and can be downright fierce sometimes. Is there someone or any organisation that takes cats other than the SPCA? I don't want to see her put down. I hope you can help...

my daughters 2 cats are any run of the mill cats except for one of them.....
this one likes to sit on the heater vents while the hot air is blowing through the room.
if i even put my hand there long enough it gets really hot.
this cat also likes to sit in the dryer after i just used it so I have to be careful about that.
what do you think is up with him?
oh and btw is there any way to "properly" discipline a cat. or keep it from gettin on counters, tables, etc. these cats just do not learn.
will they ever??

I believe my husband's 16 year old cat is dying. She's always been horribly nasty to me. In the past 3 or 4 days she's started coming to me to be petted and purring constantly. She has stayed in the living room pretty much full time for the past year and a half since I moved in, and now she comes to the back of the house. She'll follow both my husband and I around and meow randomly. She also has become friendly with the other cats. She hasn't been eating much for the past few days. She stopped eating hard food all together, and will only a little canned foor. She's drinking more often than usual. We want to ler her go naturally, here at home with us, unless she starts What are signs to look for that mean she is suffering? How can we make her last few days with us as comfortable for her as possible?

I have a male kitten. He doesn't spray (yet) but he makes noises like my other cat when he was in heat at the age of 7 months. I was thinking he's too young for that but what do I know. We already have an appointment for him to get fixed next Friday.

Yesterday I posted for advice about how to get a number of stray cats that I rescued into homes...I've had them all desexed, chipped etc.
Another guy posts this which I report for abuse...
What would be a better alternative to firewood, cat or dog?
i have no wood, no money, and its wrong to steal

Mine was deleted...his is still up there. I think the yahoo answers team is nuts. I've often reported posts promoting animal cruelty and they never remove them.
As for removing mine for solicitation...I think it's rubbish...I'm not selling anything...I've paid all their vet fees etc, I'm not selling cats, just trying to rescue them. Yet Yahoo allows featured questions promoting the tv show lost and movies like The Number 23...clear promotions.
I am so upset.
Do you think yahoo should allow questions to remain that make a joke of animal cruelty and delete questions aimed at rescuing animals???
