Yesterday I posted for advice about how to get a number of stray cats that I rescued into homes...I've had them all desexed, chipped etc.
Another guy posts this which I report for abuse...
What would be a better alternative to firewood, cat or dog?
i have no wood, no money, and its wrong to steal
Mine was deleted...his is still up there. I think the yahoo answers team is nuts. I've often reported posts promoting animal cruelty and they never remove them.
As for removing mine for solicitation...I think it's rubbish...I'm not selling anything...I've paid all their vet fees etc, I'm not selling cats, just trying to rescue them. Yet Yahoo allows featured questions promoting the tv show lost and movies like The Number 23...clear promotions.
I am so upset.
Do you think yahoo should allow questions to remain that make a joke of animal cruelty and delete questions aimed at rescuing animals???

Like you I am totally confused regarding what criteria the Answers Team use to decide whether or not to delete a post. And I fail to see how on earth your question can possibly be categorized as solicitation! As you have stated, you are asking for advice on improving your website - what can possibly be wrong with that?!
I too have reported the disgusting firewood question and am dismayed to see s/he is still there. Even if the question was intended as a joke - it's in execrably poor taste to make a joke about cruelty to animals and even worse, that kind of post COULD encourage some sicko to actually DO something bad to an animal.
I always report questions and answers that are either condoning animal cruelty or inciting people to animal cruelty whenever I see them but only a handful ever get deleted.
I think a lot of the really sick questions/answers are from attention seekers who don't have a life and I don't encourage them either by replying/commenting on their answers or by voting them down, I just report them. (I have this image of a little group of them comparing how many thumbs down they have had - the one with the most wins.)
There was one particularly horrible one some months ago whose account was in fact deleted but who then came back with a user name virtually identical to the one they had had before. You would have thought there would be some way the Answers Team could stop this kind of thing - they could easily programme something in to pick up on nearly identical i.d.s, I feel sure.
I reported another disgusting post months ago from someone who had put up a photograph of a dead cat as his avatar. The post was never deleted, although he did replace the photo with one of himself. I have just checked back and he is STILL there - not only that, while I can't see any more questions or answers from him involving animal cruelty the vast majority of the stuff he posts is racist/homophobic in the extreme so I am utterly astonished that his account hasn't just been shut down.
Like you, I feel like throwing my hands up in despair. But I want to say please don't get discouraged and please don't give up reporting people. I have to say I sometimes think that the deciding factor for Yahoo may be sheer weight of numbers of reports per post.
I admire what you are doing for those cats and wish you all the best of luck. I am thousands of miles away from you in the UK but if I was in your town I would certainly be offering a helping hand.

No, I do not. I think that is just insane. I am sorry your post was removed. I too have reported animal cruelty questions and answers as well. Some people do it for a joke but it just isn't funny. Continue what you are doing. You are making a difference.

All yahoo is a big mess. I come on here only to tell all of these stupid people who declaw their cats and don't spay and neuter how stupid they are. I saw the last question you asked, and visited your website, and I think what you are doing for those cats is great. If I didn't already have 5 of my own little babies, I would definately try to adopt one from you. I wanted to ask if you have a myspace? If you do, there is a group on there called cat lovers, and there are some great people there. Many of the members are involved in animal rescue, and you might be able to get some help from them.

Animal Cruelty is no joke. What that reply was is someone sick way of sending a cutesy remark back. I am sorry it happened. You are doing a good thing rescuing pets, strays especially need an extra helping hand. Its not their fault that they became strays.

Don't be discouraged , Someone asked my opinion on something the other day , I gave them my honest opinion as they asked , the M.F. claims it offended him or her,and I was reported for abuse as well ...it could be the same coward just reporting people for abuse for not giving answers that he or she approves of ....Yahoo should have a clause stating "some answers may be offensive to others" I think if they are going to have something called answers , for people to ask questions it should be all answers to all questions........

i agree with you. it shows the "quality" of human nature when you are penalised for trying to do an act of kindness. hope you get your cats good homes :) (oh, & thank you for said kindness)
