my daughters 2 cats are any run of the mill cats except for one of them.....
this one likes to sit on the heater vents while the hot air is blowing through the room.
if i even put my hand there long enough it gets really hot.
this cat also likes to sit in the dryer after i just used it so I have to be careful about that.
what do you think is up with him?
oh and btw is there any way to "properly" discipline a cat. or keep it from gettin on counters, tables, etc. these cats just do not learn.
will they ever??

ok, as for the first question, my opinion is that 1., it could either be a medical issue, or like most cats, some like hot air more than others, esp with the shorter hair they already have. as for other areas, all cats like warm areas in the home, but they will also try and push their limits with you, to see how much of a pushover you can be, and what they can get a way with. 2, i would suggest as the most humane way to deal with disciplining a cat, since they already hate water, a squirt or two of a run of the mill squirt bottle, and for the one that likes the warmth, if he causes most of it, make sure its cold water lol........ and any kind of pepper will also do the trick in areas you dont want them to be in, outside, and i dont see why it wouldnt work inside. i believe cayanne pepper or something like that was mentioned before. :)

Get a roll of double-sided sticky tape. Apply just around (NOT OVER) the heater vents on the floor where the cat will normally walk. Do the same for counter-tops. You won't have to keep them there for very long. Once the cats get their paws on the sticky tape a couple of times, they'll learn not to go to those places. Cats do not like the sensation of things sticking to their paws.

Your cat may have pinched a nerve in his back causing him to feel cold so try massages 2x a day if this is a new behavior. as far as discipline everyone has always said spry with water and say no. well I have discovered a less messy way to do this. Get you some small cans of the air used to clean your computer and use short burst with a firm NO no water mess and just as effective

a spray bottle works pretty good-they will eventually learn never to let you catch them up there-however hidden cameras probably stlll would- cats are cats -

I use a squirt gun on misbehaving cats. It gets the point across. :)

it's a tough one. you might have to pay for professional training on that.
