I have noticed that my cat is losing weight,he is now 3 years and half and we brought him since he was 1 year.

He was a little big in size and weight with shining long hair over his body.

Nowadays,he is losing weight and he is losing hair(I found every day some big hair masses in the home).
He sometimes eat,and sometimes refuse to eat, when he doesn't eat at all,he doesn't sleep at all.
he goes and smell the food, eat a very little amount and then keep staring on me.I'm heartbroken as I don't know what's wrong with him.

I noticed also bad breath(any relation with the above mentioned condition?)

He accepts touching and grooming and loves to play .

does he have any disease??does he need any change in the food?

Today my neighbours friends visited with their Rhodesian Ridgeback who slipped his lead and jumped the fence into my garden where he attacked my 11 year old Saluki who was sitting outside, she is too old for fights so I was scared for her.

I went out to stop it but my cat Sasha ran ahead of me and went for the ridgeback, after a brief fight in which I was sure she'd be killed she leapt away and stood between the dogs, facing the ridgeback, with all her fur on end making this horrible hissing/snarling noise.

At this point he ridgeback was pulled away by it's very apologetic owners. He had a few claw wounds.Sasha and my dog are both ok.

I'm amazed by this.I would expect it from a dog as they are pack animals who help each other. But although I know domestic cats are more social than wild ones and my cat and dogs are good friends I have never heard of a cat putting itself in danger to protect a dog.

Has anyone else heard of this?

I was reading something on the internet about training your cat to walk on a leash, and that once they are used to it, they really enjoy their walks, just like dogs. Is this true?

We don't have a cat flap so it's either out or in, and she left us a "contribution" (because she was locked in all night) the same day our biggest ever gas bill arrived, so we're thinking keep the door shut and let her sleep in the conservatory, which isn't heated but got a box with a towel in it... she's got a big shaggy coat, she should be ok? (temperatures around 7 degrees centigrade)

Right now I have three cats. One of my cat is about to give birth to kittens? How will the other two cats handle this? Oh, and how do I know when my cat is in early labor? (She will be having her kittens sometime within this week.)

My cat is an 11 year old Tabby who was nuetered when he was 6 months old. For the last 8 months he has been spraying in and out of the house. I have taken him to the vets and the have found he has a small urinary infection for which he gets Cystaid tablets. It started when I went away for 6 weeks on a course and at times it does seem to be a protest. My wife is getting fed up with it, but he's my boy.We also got one of those plug-ins which we have in our bedroom to make him calm but tonight he sprayed on the bed when he wasn't getting attention. We use non biological washing powder solution when he does sprray and do find it very effective, a citrus smelling powder works best. Can anyone please help me we have no new pets and have lived in our current house for over 4 years.

My sister and her family have recently gotten a new persian male kitten. He's a lot of fun, very friendly and happy and healthy. I've personally grown up around cats, but generally around short hairs -- Siamese, American Shorthairs/Calicos, Tabbys, et cetera.

And none of those were really ever dirty around the eyes.

It's not eye gunk IN his eyes, just around them, closer to his nose. If it was IN his eyes, I'd be a bit more worried, but since it's not, I'm a little confused. What a weird place to get dirty. o_O;

Anywho, I'm kinda wondering how he's getting dirty there and what's the best way to clean him around his eyes, or if I should clean around his eyes (I'm usually over at my sister's house during the day, so I'll be spending a lot of time with him).

Any suggestions welcome.

I came home from a vacation and my cat didn't look well. She had crusty snot all over her face and she lost weight. Since she is feline leukemia positive I took her to the vet.

The vet said she had a fever so he put her on antibiotics. A day or two after starting the antibiotics, the cat started having diarrhea. She still used the litterboxes, but there was a significant amount of "pancakes" in all 3 of them. My other cat is not having any issues.

I took her off the antibiotics. She was still having mild to moderate diarrhea 2 1/2 days later when the vet prescribed a different antibiotic as well as some kind of anti-amoeba medication which he said would help with the diarrhea.

The cat's been on both these meds for 3 days and while she seems in relative good health, she is still having significant diarrhea. She is eating a lot and drinking. The vet suggested that I stop feeding her wet food, but she doesn't really like dry food and I'm afraid she won't eat enough.

Any ideas?

We have a male kitten who is about 9 months old. We have been thinking about getting another. Should it be male or female? How do I transition so that the one we have does not get territorial? Do they share litter boxes or have separate?

I have a new kitten, approx. 6 months old, that is always jumping on, and just generally bothering my other cat who is not exactly old (2 years), but is just not interested in playing all the time and gets very annoyed. How can I train him to leave her alone? He has plenty of toys and also another cat who loves to play with him.

I have a kitten Pete aka "petey" a siamese cabit ever since we got him he has been the light of my life. But my poor petey can't seem to meow, he is almost 4 months old and had never meowed once he tries opens his mouth and looks like he is but nothing comes out, I can hear him purr alot but never anything else with that it is hard for me to tell if he needs anything unless he is in my face and I see his mouth open, what could be wrong? I am taking him to the vet to get neutered soon and get his shots, but was wondering if there is anything else I can do for him at home until I get him to the doctors, or if this is not at all that uncommon?
