My cats eat a raw meat diet I make for them and also canned food - no dry. My recently acquired rescue cat (17 years old) ate like there was no tomorrow and I was feeding him several times a day. I think his system has now adjusted to the lack of good nutrition he had before and he is eating about six ounces a day at two meals - morning and night.

For most cats a 5.5 oz can of food is sufficient for one day. Quality canned food is better for all cats as meat is the proper diet for a cat - not grains. If you feed a cheap dry food cats will never get the nutrition they need and will consume large quantities of it trying to feel satisfied.

My cats on the meat "diet" do not have diarrhea, throw up hairballs, and maintain a healthy weight. The former owner of the rescue cat said he had hairball throw-up all his life and has not had that happen in the five months I have had him.

I recently lost my 18 year old cat he was fed little and often never over ate and was never overweight. I believe cats would naturally catch small prey and are therefore predisposed to small meals. In later life he suffered from an overactive thyroid gland (common in older cats) some theorise this may be linked to canned food our vet recommended introducing boiled chicken 1 or 2 days a week (no bones) into his diet along with pet food for vitamins and he maintained an extremely good quality of life till his final days. Hope you have many happy years with your cats and always ask your vet for advice as they're the professionals.

Cats have a high metabolism that requires high protein and need to eat often so I keep 2 bowls of dry cat food out at all times for my 2 cats. I also feed them soft boiled egg, fresh raw sushi mi grade tuna or fresh crab mixed with a quality wet cat food every few days.

My two cats are free fed. The bowl of dry food is on the floor for whenever they want to eat. It is just as important that they have water as well. If you do have "feeding times", it's usually twice a day.

I have a HUGE feeder meant for dogs for my 2 cats. Fill it bout once a month and they eat what they want. Neither are overweight. Actually, my one cat was underweight for bout 5 mo. cause something happened and he wouldn't go behind the couch where I had the feeder. Since moved it and now he's eating normal again. Once in a while I'll put down a small can of food in a bowl but only as a treat. Dry food is best cause helps keep their teeth clean.

you can feed the 2-3 times a day. when feeding them try not to fill up the bowl the top because that is too much. About half way up should be enough! : )

Multiple cat households are harder to maintain on the food consumption, but most cats eat through out the day, eating a little here and a little there. Measure out the recommended amount on the food package, multiplied by 3, and see where that brings you.

Each cat should be fed according to his / her weight. Usually about 100Grams per day, But you need to feed her twice a day, meaning 50 g per serving. That is like a 1/4 cup per serving per animal.

Or you can try reading the back of the food package?

The labels on the packets are pretty good as a guide. My cat has a tin of Whiskas a day, half in the morning and half at night. If you try the foil pouches of cat food, they advise you to give an adult cat four of them a day.

depends. with trays/pouches, i per cat 3 times a day. if you feed them from tins, a third of a tin 3 times a day (1 tin per cat). or fill 3 bowls with dry catfood & they'll eat at their leisure.
1st feed in the morning when you get up.
2nd feed at dinner/tea time (whatever you call it) when you have your main dinner.
3rd feed when you go to bed.
remember!!! standard cow's milk is very bad for cats as they are lactose intolerant. you can get special catmilk if they really like it.
