You can, but you'd need to be careful. The insurance won't cover this illness, and if there is something wrong with your cat, it may not cover a preexisting illness. Check all the details before you purchase any pet insurance.
Most vets do not take the insurance, they will fill out the paperwork, but you will have to pay them up front and wait for reimbursement (if any).

You dont have to have pet insurance to go to a vet- they'll simply bill you directly for whatever treatment was received.
If you do want to go the insurance route and get your cat on a care plan, you might want to try Banfield Clinics, which are in most PetSmart locations. They have a plan you can pay monthly (ranges in price depending how much you want covered) that will cover your vet visits there and give you discounts on shots and other treatments.

No you don't need insurance, you will have to pay out of pocket for the visit. You can purchase insurance for an animal, however for most healthy indoor animals it isn't worth the expense.

no you do not need pet insurance but what are you going to do if it is expensive .check Yahoo for pet insurance, there are plenty to check out

Not at all. You will have to pay with cash or credit card. My cat doesn't have insurance, but plain ole money seems to work fine.

you don't HAVE to have pet insurance, but it is a very good investment for unexpected illnesses/accidents.
