My girlfriends 17 year old cat died peacefully in her sleep. The last 2 weeks she was losing bladder control and had a number of accidents. The smell is terrible and I am afraid a new cat will think it can use these spots to pee. Any ideas on how to permanently eliminate the odor.

Okay, about 10 months ago my husband was out of town for some work training and took me with him. We couldn't afford for me to do anything but sit at the hotel all day long doing nothing. While there I noticed a momma cat and 5 kittens living under the dumpster. Looooong story short the hotel staff said some jerk thrw pregnant momma cat out of a car and she'd been under the dumpster ever since. Uncatchable. I begged my hubby to let me save them with the promise I'd find homes for ALL of them. The week we were there I caught all of them and have subsequently found homes for all but one. I found a home for the second to last one abt a month ago. I CAN'T keep the last one. I've tried to get the local no-kill shelter to take her but they are full and keep turning me away. I've contacted other nearby shelters and they refuse to answer my phone calls or emails. I keep putting hre on Freecycle and no bites. HELP!!!! I'm pregnant due in a month, plus landlord doesn't know and he's coming Fri.!

Our rescued kitten was found to have an oozing place on her head that didn't seem to heal with topical treatments. We took her to a vet. She was found to have a warble in her head, right behind her right ear, and it was huge. The vet had to sedate her and make an incision to get it out, and then gave her an oral antibiotic to follow up. Since then, her behaviour's been strange, and seems to get worse every day. She sleeps a lot more, and no longer meows.. She often jumps up on this one chair and seems to be following something up in space with her eyes that only she can see. Her eyes have changed in appearance, as well. They seem sunken in, and rolled upward. For the past week, she has acted as though she doesn't understand much of anything. Tonight, we found her on the kitchen floor repeatedly throwing herself against the cabinets and flipping over very hard onto her back. She seemed almost possessed, like she couldn't help it or stop it. Could she have brain damage from the warble?

I volunteer at an animal shelter, and some ladies dropped off a kitten they found stranded in a tree (in the rain, no less). There was no room at the shelter, so I said I'd take him. He's really thin and kind of scraggly, and he was starving when they brought him in. Theoretically, we're only "foster parents" until a cage opens up, and I've never had a cat in such bad shape. I don't know whether to give him a few days to eat and get his strength back, or if I should even introduce him to my other cat in case he's got a virus or something.

Any insight here?

my older cat who is 12 yrs old just lost her sister at christmas. she was so lonely i thought she would like a sister so i got a kitten. she was so wonderful with the kittens my other cat had she would lay in the box with them all day and they would try to nurse on her but of course she had no milk. i thought this was a great idea. no such luck all they do is fight growl hiss bat each other constantly. plus the kitten is such a brat always getting to everything she isn't suppose to. she has tons of toys scratching posts everything you could imagine but she wants to play with my pictures hanging on the wall or my christmas lights on my bed or the wires to my computer or stereo or tv. i am at my wits end with her i cant ever open my window any more because she wants to hang on the screen and i am afraid she will fall out the window. i live on the 4th floor. she is scheduled to get fixed in 3 weeks and if this doesnt calm her down i don't know what i am going to do help

My cat died suddenly on Thursday night and I don't know what could have happened. I came home from a bar, having alcohol poisoning from a strawberry drink (I am allergic to berries). My husband laid me on one side of the couch while he sat on the other side. Several times he pet our cat Rapunzel, and then he went upstairs to sleep, leaving me passed out on the couch. I awoke in the middle of the night and went upstairs as well. When we woke the next morning we found Rapunzel on my side of the couch, dead. She was on her back, and solid--no blood, nothing. I am scared that I might have suffocated the cat--but she has slept with me for years and is very skittish--wouldn't she have moved or tried to struggle? I am bewildered and racked with guilt!

My cat tends to run into objects, like a refrigerator door or a wall, before he rubs up against them. He'll do that when he rubs up against people, too. Is there something wrong with his eyes or is he just even weirder than he is now?

Or insane?

A friend of mine has sadly suffered the loss of two kittens (R.I.P. Cleopatra & Caesar) from the disease F.I.P. in the last year. She still has an older cat (Zirk) & a young kitten (Venus). Venus tested as having F.I.P., but is asymptomatic for now, thank goodness. I am unfamiliar with the disease but want info to pass along to my friend. Venus is too playful & young to be without a playmate, so my friend wants to get another cat, but is concerned. What can she do? All info is appreciated! Thanks!

My cat got stuck between the door and a screen door sometime this morning while were out, and we just got back home. We left at 9 and just came back around 4 pm. When we let her out she was panting really hard, and wouldn't drink any water, although I'm guessing it's becuse she couldn't, not because she didn't want to. She immediately ran to the tile floor downstairs and flopped there panting really hard for maybe 15 minutes. She sounded like a dog! Her front legs and chest were all soggy, and I thought it was sweat, until checking online I found that cats don't have sweat glands. We sprayed some water on her, and rubbed her with damp towels. She seems to be doing fine now, but I read some really scary things about nerve damage and heat stroke while checking online for anything helpful. Anyone have any experience with this and can offer some good advice?
