Some not all. Some people are animal lovers at heart. I trust them. And I care for horses often-they trust me with their pets.

I'm fine with people being defensive with their pets although myself, if anyone comes to my house, I trust them otherwise they wouldn't be allowed in my house. If a guy or girl will hurt your PET in your house, can you really trust him with your other stuff?

But I do take issue at least here on Yahoo Answers when other get defensive about MY pet though.

I have a 3 week old Chihuahua puppy righ now that I am having to bottle feed (the mother cannot nurse due to health issues) and yes, I am extremely protective of her! I will not let anyone hold her. I have become so emotionally attached to this puppy that I can't stand the though of anyone hurting her so I keep on the safe side and don't let anyone near her... maybe when she gets older........

Oh yeah, i have two cats, one of them is a stray and the other i have had since she was a kitten, she follows me EVERYWHERE I will not let anyone i dont know pet her, mind you she doesn't either. To me they are my babies and i would do anything for them, even go without so that they can have food etc. Love those cats

I don't mind if other people pet my cat or hold her. I do however, defend her from other people's pets. I have a loaded supersoaker that I keep handy and I'm getting to be a pretty good shot!

No I don't because I don't think my cat is my own property. I love my cat but I have to share him with my family. I want my friends to love my cat to. So I can share my kitty with the world.I trust my friends with my cats because I know they would never hurt me. Also most of my friends are experts on cats.

Yeah . For example I don't let anybody hurt my pets . If they wanna kick my dog , they have me to deal with . Yes it's probably a little over-protective . But would you let anybody kick your baby ?

I am very defensive over my kitties. I would go to the ends of the earth and fight to the death for them. They are my babies, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Sounds like the signs of a good pet owner to me.

I'm the same way - they're my children!
