Avian flu hasn't really hit the US yet, only in Asia or the Far East. I have heard that cats have succumbed to this.
So ruling out the H5N1, we will turn to the kitten's problem. It is normal for a kitten to get a viral infection as it is in humans and older cats too. With kittens their immune systems are not fully developed. I don't know if the feline viruses mutate as fast as the human one does where we need flu shots made up every year to protect us from the one traveling around the world that year.
The kitten, the cats, and we suffer from the symptoms and they will pass. And veterinarians usually give kittens and cats a treatment of antibiotic because there is a danger of a secondary bacterial infection effecting the lungs. So I recommend you go to the vet ( with the kitten of course) and get the medication.
You don't want to risk losing your little guy by neglecting this step.

It sounds like he has kennel cough. A common respiratory bacterial infection easily transferred from animal to animal. Sometimes it is characterized by a cough, or raspy breathing. You have to take him to the vet to get it checked out and an antibiotic prescribed for him. Put your fears of the vet aside and be a responsible pet owner. Take him to the vet.

Please take him to the vet. He might have feline leukemia. I got my kitten at 5 months old from a lady who had emphysema from smoking and she had all these cats in the house with all the windows shut! He always had this raspy breathing thing. When he was 6 last year, he quit meowing (he made the motions, but no noise came out!). I thought that was really strange. Everything else seemed normal. After about a month of this no meowing, I took him to the vet and she said he was in heart failure at that very moment!! NO SYMPTOMS! Then, she showed me he was jaundiced, which is really hard to tell unless they show you, and he was never going to survive! :{ I could not believe it! But after $365 in tests, it was confirmed and I had to put him to sleep or spend another $3,000 to treat him and he could not survive anyway. Please take your cat to get a blood test. At the Humane Society they do it really inexpensively. His name was Tucker. I miss him still.

It could be a number of things. My kitten has the "cat flu" wich he will have the virus for the rest of his life...runny nose....runny eyes sneezes once and a while..ect. This is contageous! To other cats. One minute he is normal and the next minute he has these symptoms again. But it doesn't bother him. He is fine. i have taken him to the vet. The only thing they can treat is his eyes...they gave me drops for when it flares up. But you cat could have something else. If you have had trouble with a certain vet...I would try a different one this time. Either way your kitty needs to be seen be one

Respiratory infections (or "colds") in kittens can vary. If you take your kitten to the vet and get it on some antibiotics, it should be fine in about 7-10 days. If you dont get your kitten treated for the cold, it could be deadly.

If you are having problems with your vet check out the animal shelters. Often they can refer you to a clinic for low cost and they are actually nicer. Many animals I know in my area don't like a certain vet but have no problem at the SPCA clinic.

First, vet examine. examine for any abnormalities and if theres not something incorrect.... a lifeless ringer for some different solutions the following I recommend you supply your kitten ALOT of lovey dovey time. when you say that "popping" is incorrect it obviously is the incorrect element to do, I do recommend that slightly tap on the end of the bottom the position the tail begins (not demanding!) is a very valuable type of self-discipline.this kind of parenting, notwithstanding, is recomended for at the same time as your animal is a lot older than this So keep the tapping for later years including your cat. also!!!! basically because you dont comprehend what to do, does not make you a foul individual, all of us has something to study! one element you are able to comprehend, is this can be slightly one! this kitten is allowed to be aggressive and act slightly of a meany. that's totally a hyper kitty, and likely needs slightly of care and love rather of scruffing because of the behaviour of your infant. of direction, your infant isn't accountable both, basically youthful ones being youthful ones and typically this happens with tiny pets and youngsters. i assistance you supply up the popping and scruffing and replace it with cuddling and playtime. Get your kitten some toys, and also coach your infant possibility-free taking section in innovations that do not harm the kitten bodily or mentally. As your kitty receives older, the temperment could replace with perfect care. undergo in innovations! its a kitten! and they prefer to seek and nip and scratch, there is not any favor to scruff or "pop" at the same time as this happens. I actually believe that your kitten may be extraordinarily notably aggressive because to procure it so youthful. a lifeless ringer for with dogs, kittens how you are able to play effective by vocal sounds of their siblings. If it hurts you, basically enable out a extreme pitched "yeep" and shrink back, this can supply it slightly a audible clue that "thats too demanding" and it is going to lose the aggression in case you proceed with this behaviour. undergo in innovations that with a kitty interior this kind of concern needs a particular type of interest, and also you ought to first be a muddle mate, before you are able to grow to be his draw close.
