Check the yellow pages and see if you can find a vet who will come to your house. In most cities, there are at least a few who do house calls.

If not, try putting her into one of those big nylon mesh laundry bags. She's have plenty of air and it should be easier to get her in than a small crate. The best way is to pick her up by the scruff of the neck and gently lower her down while someone else holds the top of the bag open.

Try putting a cat treat in the carrier every few days even when it's not going any where. Don't close the door just put the treat in the back and let your cat recognize the carrier for a more positive experience. Then when it is time to take "the ride". Just put the treat in there and close the door when kitty goes in! You will probably need to do this for several weeks before any trip. And kitty may not go after the treat for several days. But keep at it until they've lost their mistrust of the carrier.

What we do with our cat is to put a dirty T-shirt in the crate. The T-shirt smells like us and she doesn't cry as much and she is more co-operative. My cat doesn't like to ride either. Sometimes it helps just to leave the crate out with the door open where she can come and go as she wants and then she will go into the crate much easier. That is what has worked for me in the past.
I agree with the others about wrapping her in a big fluffy towel too.

Wrap her up in a towel or pillow case and put her in the crate that way. She will get loose when she is secured and you will be safe. Leave the crate in another room where she won't see it. She is too smart and will take off if she sees it before you get her. Also cats are too smart for treats to work. Just get her in there and get it over with.

One more thing, put the crate so you drop the cat in instead of pushing her in.

What I do with my girlfriends cat is get her into the bathroom and then close the door. Then I corner her and place a towel over her so I can pick her up and this way so won't scratch me. Wrap the towel around her and then put her in the cat carry.

the towel trick is pretty clever and I wish I had know it for the last few years...we also put the crate out and open a day or two before the appointment and we leash her before she goes in so that when we open it at the vet's she does not have the opportunity to run and hide

Wrap her in a towel so just her head shows. Make sure her legs and especially her claws are covered and then place her gently into the carrier, leaving the towel in there with her because it has her own scent on it now. Hope this helps.

This is very common. Cats don't like to leave their domain for any reason, especially to go to the vet. My cat Moses is so terrified of going to the vet, he will go to any length to keep from going. He fights me when I am putting him in the crate. He opens the doors to the cabinets in the kitchen and hides in them. It is a chore to get him to the vet.

the towel trick sounds the best. just have the crate close by so your cat can't react too fast!
