Every few weeks or so, usually in the very early hours, I hear my budgie squalking loudly and he falls to the bottom of the cage. He is disorientated for a few minutes and lets me pick him up (normally he doesn't let me touch him). After a while he is back to his normal self and quite happy. Is he dreaming?
Or is he having some sort of fit?

I was told to use quick stop for a birds feather. I also read the back of the bottle and it said it was for surface cuts. Is it dangerous for the birds.

The lady that told me to use it was an owner of a bird rescue shelter who has used it on many birds.

Now I am being told by others, including a vet that it is not safe for that use. That it is for nails only. Is this true?

what is your experience with sun conures? any mood differences with sex? how are their personalities in a general sense?
would you advise a different parrot breed?

I think the mom is feeding the baby too much. When I check on them the crop is always full. I don't want to attempt to hand feed but I'm debating taking the male out. Maybe both parents feeding is too much. I might add this is their first baby.

My bird's wings were clipped at the pet shop earlier this week when I got him. Before I let him out for the first time, I made sure he was trained with 'step up.' That was today. I got him out of the cage and..surprise, he flew around the room. He was panting and I think nervous, but since I had him trained luckily, I was able to safely get him back into his cage after a few minutes. Now why is he still able to fly? I clipped his wings for a reason! (At least until he is a little more trained, and then I will probably let them grow back.) I don't want him out flying around! He wasn't just gliding, he was able to get to the fan on the ceiling...which means he got lift. And I watched the pet shop guy clip his wings so I know that was done. Did he not do enough maybe? Or can some still fly after? And is there a way to cut them more and make sure he can't fly?

I have a Goffin's Cockatoo and a Green Cheek Conure, they are wonderful and we love them dearly. We recently found an Amazon who needs a new home and they are willing to give him to us with cage and everything. We went to see him last night and he is very sweet, scared of strangers at first. But after an hour or so of just talking to him and being around him, he was content on our hands. He flew off once and landed hard on the floor, breaking a tail feather. My husband picked him back up and held him on his hand while I snipped off the broken piece. I thought it was very trusting for a bird who barely knew us! There were a couple of occasions when he could have really bitten us and probably been justified in his mind, but he didn't. They think he is 3-4 years old, and from looking at pictures he may be a Double Yellow Head. He has a yellow forehead with some yellow on the back of his neck, red coloring on his shoulders and some color on his tail. I don't know very much about amazons.

My mom bought Cockatiels about 10 years back.. for about 6 years she neglected them, just ignored them. The are mine now and they are not plesant. I've been thinking about getting rid of them but they can't be seperated or they'll die. They're destructive sometimes too. I don't know what to do, I can hardly touch them. Any suggestions?

When they see food fall, they fly outside to the floor and act as a vacuum to clean it up? It used to be cute but now its annoying especially when visitors come. They would make noise if you lock the cage too

Near the water bowl that I usually leave out for the birds to bathe and drink in, I found about 15 little clumps of grass left by the birds. I know it might be silly to ask why, but I thought it was really strange that they did that.

The squirrels (and sometimes a stray cat or two) also drink from the same bowl, and I also throw bread out for the birds in the winter.

some of the answerers here told me to leave the cage door open to allow my parakeet to get used to me or something like that. the thing i'm afraid of is it'll come out and not want to go back in by itself. would it be okay to grab it then??? my parakeets don't want to perch on my finger yet.

I have 2 pair of tiels. both are prolific producers. However, one of the pairs is a lutino/cinnimon and a pearl lutino. I don't want to keep breeding red eye birds. But, since they are such great producers I wanted to try and repair them with another set that I have. How can i go about switching the mates? should they be put into different rooms?
