I have a Goffin's Cockatoo and a Green Cheek Conure, they are wonderful and we love them dearly. We recently found an Amazon who needs a new home and they are willing to give him to us with cage and everything. We went to see him last night and he is very sweet, scared of strangers at first. But after an hour or so of just talking to him and being around him, he was content on our hands. He flew off once and landed hard on the floor, breaking a tail feather. My husband picked him back up and held him on his hand while I snipped off the broken piece. I thought it was very trusting for a bird who barely knew us! There were a couple of occasions when he could have really bitten us and probably been justified in his mind, but he didn't. They think he is 3-4 years old, and from looking at pictures he may be a Double Yellow Head. He has a yellow forehead with some yellow on the back of his neck, red coloring on his shoulders and some color on his tail. I don't know very much about amazons.

I think you have enough experience with birds to be able to deal with him, assuming he can get along with the other birds. He could easily kill the green cheek before you could intervene.
Never let the Amazon perch on your shoulder (in fact you really shouldn't let any bird bigger than the green cheek). As a group they have a reputation in middle age for unexpectedly attacking and they could do tremendous damage to a face

My Solomon Electus is an analogous, even nevertheless I hand reared him. He additionally in user-friendly terms eats human food (and breakfast is on occasion weetabix) and eats some parrot pellets too. Parrots stress alot and if he grew to become into locked in a room without interaction, he's no longer used to human touch, different than possibly while he grew to become into mistreated. wait and see. he will the two settle for you finally, or no longer. and additionally, parrots in many circumstances settle for in user-friendly terms a million individual (adult males like females and ladies persons adult males! - go parent!) He destroy;s issues because of the fact he's bored. consult from him alot, and go away the small screen television or radio on for him once you're out. sturdy success.
