Cute question, but no, "duct" tape has nothing to do with ducks. I'm pretty sure there is a brand of duct tape out there called Duck tape, that may be what you are thinking of.
Duct tape's primary use (at least in my life experience) is to seal the area around the duct from the dryer and it's connection with the outside of your house, however it has many other uses including minor car repairs and tying people up, should the need arise.

Nothing. it is duct tape (not duck)
It was often used to patch small holes in the ducts that transport the heated or cooled air to the registers.
This take became known because it sticks real well; and now duct tape is used for lots of things.

The proper term is duct tape and was initially meant for use in duct(central air, heating ducts) in house or comercial construction. The name eventually, through our poor language skills, somehow became known as duck. Don't let this confuse you, there are no ducks harmed in the making of duct tape. It is strictly a marketing tool.

I can't think of a funny come back with this one.
There are different types of ducs, ducks. You are thinking in terms of animal ducks. However, the tape (duct tape) was designed to use on ducts. The tape was originally designed to be used on mechanical ducts, such as air ducts and so forth.
It has nothing to do with animal ducks.

More info...
It is called Duct tape, but it is not used on ducts. When it was created, it was supposed to be used to seal air ducts together, but they soon found out that it powders up and comes unglued very quickly, so no longer use it for what it was initially meant to be used for. The many other uses people have come up with for the tape have kept it in production.

I believe it's called duct tape - very strong tape (presumably for holding together big industrial air ducts, or more likely keeping them air tight if a split happens).
It's commonly called duck tape because it's far easier for people to mistakenly call it that, than duct tape...and I guess they capitalised on the idea.

Actualy, the name of the stuff is NOT duck tape, but duct tape. The cloth fiber tape was originally designed to seal ducts.

It doesn't have a thing to do with ducks; it has to do with ducts. That being said, the fact that it's so often mispronounced apparently led at least one manufacturer to name his tape "Duck Tape." (I have a roll of the stuff myself) - I guess it's just a good marketing gimmick.
