My friend thinks the only way to train a dog is to beat it to scare it into submission. I'm thinking there is some truth to that. She just isn't listening and keeps peeing in my house and ruining things. She is in the cage at night and then I let her out for an hour, Im at work for 9 hours then I come home and she is out for 3 hours and then back in the cage for the night.

She is peeing inside all the time.

I have already hit her really hard but it doesn't seem to do anything. How hard is too hard to hit a puppy?

I am not an animal beater I work a lot and don't have a lot of time to train her, I need a way to quickly train her where she will listen well. And I think there is a lot of truth to hitting and spanking a dog? It gets their attention and tells them what they are doing is wrong!

Please help?

I just put my long airstone in last night, i buried it under the rocks and the bubbles come right up from it, so the bubbles come right up to the top/ The reason why I'm saying this is before I put that it, the tank was ok, now I got up this morning and the water was a little cloudy. There arent any signs of algae or anything. So could this just be a sign of cycling. I'm not into chemicals. So many experts pn here say dont even worry about it. So I;'m just wondering if my tank is cycling possibley. I just set it up thursday, so suggestions would help. Thanks.

I notice that nearly every time I walk into the kitchen, my female cat goes to her dish and eats in front of me? Why is this? Is this an indication of a social behavior and that she enjoys company while she eats? My male cat has different interesting behaviors, but that's not one of them.

I realise that people want to save money, and it never hurts to get other's opinions, but when the obvious answer is, "take your pet to the vet", why don't they? Are people really so cheap that they put their pet's life on the line to save a few bucks?

My pets are my best friends; I prefer them to all people. Only a vet who has seen your pet can accuratly diagnose it.

I was just wondering, I was told to mix some puppy chow with the puppies formula when it was time for them to be weaned. But the puppy chow isnt getting soft, is there any way to make it soft faster? We have been waiting for about 15 mins now.

There was a small hawk-like bird on my balcony. I took pictures of it, then looked it up in the Audubon bird book. It was probably closest to a merlin, but even that wasn't exact. It almost looked like a young bird. Is there somewhere I can look or send the picture to find out what it was?

i have wanted a dachsund since before i can remember, i even had to have stuffed ones as a child; the only stuffed dog i would get! my husband on the other hand absolutely adores basset hounds; hes also a hunter and wants good hunting dog. anywy. we have 2 young children (4 and 10 months) plus #3 n the way. are either of these breeds good as family dogs? would they be ok with children so young? how are they sharing attention? positives/negatives to both breeds greatly appreciated! please only answer if you really know one breed or the other; answer on the breed you know. id really like honest personal experience; not "well i heard...". thanks so much!!

I gave some leftover sardines to some cats living in my backyard. a mother, and 2 kittens. I tried to give some to the kittens because I know they didn't have anything to eat, cause I've been watching and feeding them for fun these days. and the mother just tried to grab the food from me and her paw touched my index finger. Is something gonna happen to me now? and what I really fear is getting those worms in my body, cause I've read some stuff on that.

Also, I don't plan on raising those cats, but just feeding them for fun or until they leave. so, I'm not getting any cat food for them either. and it also looks like both the kittens lost 1 eye.

I have a female and a male turtle.... i wanted to know if it was normal for my male turtle to let a piece of its bottom fall off.... its like a thin layer of it that came off... this is just an example of what im talking about ...NOT MY TURTLE....

My brother is thinking of getting a weener dog for the house. I already have a Yorkie that is very sweet and laid back. She is not much of a fighter. I was wondering if a Weener dog would be a good dog to have liveing in the same house as a Yorkie. Thanks for the future advice!

My Miniature fox terrier just had a litter of 4 pups and they seem to be health. My question was that is it necessary for me to bottle feed the pups or should I just let the mother do her thing. So my dog, 7 year old female toy poodle, my dad...I always tell him dont feed her people food because she will get accustomed to it. and thats exactly what has happened. My cats have worms and I bought medicine for them, it said it's for round worms. Is it the same as heart worms? How can I tell which worms my cats even have? PLEASE don't say to go to the vet. I WOULDN'T be here asking if I had the money to ask a vet. Basically, it's little white things that come out the cats anus. I found out yesterday that my pregnant cat has this affliction as well. She should be giving birth in 1-2 weeks. Is it all right to give her the medicine as well?
