I realise that people want to save money, and it never hurts to get other's opinions, but when the obvious answer is, "take your pet to the vet", why don't they? Are people really so cheap that they put their pet's life on the line to save a few bucks?

My pets are my best friends; I prefer them to all people. Only a vet who has seen your pet can accuratly diagnose it.

because your never exactly shure what is wrong with the pet, and you wouldnt want to take it to the vet unless you are positive that something could be wrong, if you were noticing sighns of sickness or differences in your pet you should take the time to observe it and make sure it didnt eat something bad or hurt itself

I think some people are just too cheap and lazy and would do anything for another way. And if there pet dies then they can rationalize it by saying "well this guy on YA said it wasn't serious and so I didn't think I had to take it to the vet". Taking the blame off of themselves.
If there is a vet on YA then they would tell the person to take it to a vet. And just because someone on here says they are a vet doesn't mean they really are.

After hours and the VET is not open is when most questions come up. A lot of VET's still don't do emergency's. Don't have the money ! Not sure if need to take them to VET or not.
That is about all the reasons I can think of.

If people had your kind of money they would take their pet to the vet, its not that they are cheap, most people are buried in debt, and trying to make a living, I take mine to the vet when they need to go, I love all of them, they have a much better life here than where I found them, which was in the dumpsters.

I think alot of times they want reassurance that they SHOULD take their dog to the vet, rather than overreact and take him for no medically needed reason. Plus, sometimes they aren't emergency situations, so it's good to be able to get some advice/other opinions and I think the people on this board are pretty good about giving their heartfelt opinion!

Lets say you lose your job and can't afford any type of treatment. Pets as well as people die for the same reason. Its not that you are cheap, you just find yourself in situations where it is impossible to pay for treatment. So, if I can get advice by asking a large group of people it is better than not asking anyone at all.

well in a non-emergency situation it's better than doing nothing until a vet is open on monday. In an emergency sit- it is stupid
