Why aren't dogs meant to eat chocolate and what can happen to them if they do?

My Peke-Poo has separation anxiety from being locked in the garage and basically forgotten about by his previous owner. The classic case of cute as a tiny pup but got bigger than they wanted... in other words stupid humans! Anyway I've tried everything I can think of to cure this dog and nothing has worked. As soon as I go out the door he's howling like a banshee and when I come home he's pacing back and forth in his crate like a nutjob. He also pee's and poops in his crate despite the fact that I make him do his business several times before I leave. I ignore him until he calms down and then I let him out of the crate. I've tried leaving the light & the radio on but it doesn't seem to matter. I've even given him treats when he calms down but after a year his behavior has NOT improved! Is he just damaged for life or what?

we took our neighbours cat from a few houses away, because it had flea's, flea rash, it was thin, covered in scabs, starving etc. we took it to my aunt cause she used to be part of the cats protection league so they should be able to take it in to look after it.

so far it's been flea'ed etc so it doesn't have flea's anymore and it's coat is already looking healthier.

the question is, were we right to rescue this cat?

How do you deal with the litter problem?

Ive got a small balcony I put the litter box in because Ive got no space for it inside, but the cats usually have to sleep in the balcony at night because of this. Any ideas on how to keep them inside and with less smell from litter box ? Much appreciated.

My mum and I are worried about our cat. He is five years old and he has been very healthy since he was a kitten and he had all the necessary jabs when we first got him, but for the last ten days, he hasn't been himself and he has two mouth ulcers and a lot of saliva around his mouth. He is just staying in a corner and isn't playing with his sister like he usually does. He still has an appetite though and is eating well when we mash his food up. He went to the vets last week and again earlier this week and she put him on antibiotics saying that he's got a virus which will clear up in its own time. We are very concerned that he might have something more serious though. Does this sound very worrying? What could it be and is ten days a long time for a cat to still be unwell? Should we get some blood tests done? Thanks for any advice.

I was running around cleaning my puppy's muddy footprints off the tiles and vacuuming her hair off the furniture ... and the dog was just lying there dozing and watching me through half-open eyes ... and I thought ... "How about you work for your living for once, you lazy lump?!!"

I reckon it would be good if I could hitch her up to the vacuum cleaner and train her to pull it round the house. 10 points to anyone who comes up with a better idea (then I'll patent it and get rich, lol!).

We have a 6 week old great dane puppy and we are feeding him Eagle Pack Holistic Select Large Breed puppy formula. It has lower protien so we thought that would be better for him. We were originally gonna go with Canidae all life stages but changed our mind at the last minute. He seems to not care for the stuff at all though. He was being fed the good cheap stuff before we got him. I was wondering if anybody who uses Canidae could tell me if it seems like a tasty dog food cuz this eagle pack stuff looks all dry and tastless. Thx

Is this common???? He's been neutered for almost two years. He was about 3 when we had him fixed (he was a stray at my grandmothers business) . I have an intact female that he always trys to "breed" when she is in season.... is this normal or should I be worried that the vet screwed up? We plan on having the female fixed but she is special needs and the surgery will be somewhat costly so we are putting away for it. Meanwhile he is making me crazy! lol

Here's the situation, my 3 1/2 week old kitten fell to the floor from sitting on my lap. I say it was a foot or so worth of falling from my lap to the hardwood floor. After she fell, she was moving her head as if she were gagging and moving on her side as if she was having a seizure of some sort. That lasted for 2 minutes. After that, she had a very blank stare and barely meowed, she just mewed. I am worried, as I have never had this happen to me before. She is sleeping now....do I still need to wake her up for her normal feeding, or let her sleep. Please help! I am taking her to the vet on Friday morning.

My mouse constantly scratches, to the point where she is bleeding. I don't know what to do! I feel so bad for her. I haven't changed the type of bedding she uses, so i don't think it's that. I was thinking maybe mites, but I don't see anything on her. Can you see mites? Please help!

I have a mixed breed dog. And I want to find out what breeds hes mixed with. The vet cant tell by looking at him. IKNOW for a fact he is not a lab. Because he is brown and people have thought this before when I posted his picture on awnsers. Hes far too small.

How much is it to get a DNA test??
has anyone done this before?

I have been told that he is a flame point or fire point Siamese, but he looks like a red rag doll. If you are very knowledgeable in cats and cat breeds/genetics, please help me!

I am not going to do a DNA testing, I am not THAT curious.

Please e-mail me for pictures, my photo bucket isn't working for some reason. baby_7991@yahoo.com

My sister's male betta isn't swimming after she did her routine water change. She put dechlorinater in it, but now he's just sitting on the bottom of the tank. Every once in a while he'll come up for air, but he seems to rush up all at once. I have a tank of female bettas, so i put him in there to see how he would react, and he just fell to the bottom, and would again rush up for air paying the females no attention at all. She said he was acting normal earlier. Occasionally he's just float around the top, and his gills look like they may be infected (i'm not sure of his normal coloring tho) I'm wondering if he's just getting old, or maybe has a swim bladder problem. I don't want to just flush him, i want to try anything i can, so any ideas?

I heard dogs make people happier and even help the sick get healthy faster. Is this true? If so, what kind of dogs can help? My mom has been mildly depressed all her life, and I want to change that. I am there for her as much as I can be, but will a canine also help? Thanks.

I have been riding for about 2 years and am at the Intermediate level. I would like to jump my horse, but probably not competitively. I also want a horse that is comfy and can gallop over grassy terrain and is pretty tolerable with other horses. If I can be picky, I would really want a buckskin-colored horse. I was thinking a Morgan? Thank you!

ive had an african cichlid tank for about 3 months now, and its thriving quite nicely, but today i noticed that one of my female cichlids color had changed. i BELIEVE she is a Pseudotropheus, although i cant be more specific than that (the pet store was poorly labeled). she was a light purple with dark purple tiger style stripes, and is now becoming yellow. the change is most noticable around the head and dorsal fin, with a light shading coming in around the scales.

the water conditions are fine, i have tested everything, and she is behaving normally and eating just fine....is this a normal thing for cichlids to do?
