Everyone else is correct about the scientific name for the creature, although they are more commonly referred to as sucker fish or algae eaters. A word of caution about these cleaners if you are unfamiliar with them. They grow very quickly depending on the size of your tank and how much they eat. Be prepared to have to get rid of them in the future so you can get younger ones again.

The one you have would be the Plecostomus.

There are different species of plecos which you can find in fish stores.

Another much smaller algae eater is the Otocinclus

Yet another would be the Chinese Algae Eater or Siamese Alage Eater.

plecostumas. or Chinese algae eater,

you can get ones that get 5-6 inches long but be careful because if you don't get an albino one they grow up to 24 inches.
i would recommend an algae eater (different thing) and they vary in size, they don't stick to the side like a pleco!!

These are really fun to watch...
no tank should be without a Plecostomus or two or three.
(also known as a "Sucker Mouth Catfish")
