I am in England at the moment and floods are bad, my home is ok as it is high up thankfully!

There was another lady who's business was wrecked and she went home to find that her two kittys had drowned and you could see how distraught she was, I would be too, I dont know what I would do with out my cats!!! What do you think?

Have you been affected by the floods too?

When I get the 9 lives cat food, as soon as they hear me use the can opener they lose their minds. They claw at my legs, meow alot. When I go get the bowl and fork [I use the fork to mush it all together] they climb up on the counter and start going to the bowls and trying to eat it, I put them down all the time and when I raise my head after putting the other one down the other is up there. When I give them the food they only lick the gravy, then take it out of the bowl and put it on the floor and eats it. I'm going to list my question
1. why does my cat lick the gravy?
2. why does it take it out of the bowl and eat it?
3.why are they so alert when the hear the can opener?
4. how do I stop them from going crazy on my legs when I open it?
I'm sorry for all the questions but I know its only instinct but I need to know how to at least stop one thing out of the 4 questions, It becomes a living hell when I go to the can opener. Please no rude answers.

My 6mo puppy is being spayed on Tuesday and I am concerned about caring for her post-surgery. I want her to be comfortable and nourished. She is a Shih Tzu and eats nothing but lamb and rice puppy food, broccoli, carrots and green beans. Is it okay to introduce her to chicken broth if she has never had chicken before?. I am concerned about allergies, as these dogs are prone to allergies. Also, she sleeps in bed with me but my bed is very high and I'm concerned about her falling off so I plan on laying my futon from the guest room on the floor and sleeping with her there. When should she poop after the surgery, when will she resume eating her food. How long should I keep her quiet? I've never been through this before. Will the vet offer pain pills for her or do I have to ask? I've heard that they don't give pain pills. Don't the poor things feel pain? I would think they do. Thanks for sharing your experiences and advice.

Apparently, this dog gets loose a lot of the time. I was leaving my friend's house and the neighbor's dog decided to follow me around and growl and bark at me (the dog was HUGE and I'm a minor). The owner was trying to get the dog's attention, but it ignored her the entire time and was following me and stuff. She got the dog's attention for a short amount of the time, and during this, the dog was glaring at me. I walk a bit across the street, and the dog runs after me barking at me. I thought that it was going to take a bite out of me. I have never felt so afraid in my life. I practically saw my life flashing before my eyes because I was POSITIVE that the dog was going to attack me. The dog wasn't wearing a leash. What should I do? No one should have to go through that.

I just today bought a pet Betta. I wanted to get a fish since my room is tropical themed and they're calming to watch, and not only are Betta's pretty, but easy to care for. I am a teenager on a budget, and as it is I spent nearly thirty dollars for everything I bought. I bought a 1 gallon betta tank with lid and light. It has the marble rocks and a plant. I know that people say they don't need huge tanks, and alot of the betta tanks I saw were under a gallon. Do you think a Betta can be happy in a gallon tank. It seems happy enough. Also suggestions on best food. I got this Betta BioGold stuff by Hikari that is supposed to float and enhance your betta's color. It does float just fine, but my Betta tends to take it in it's mouth and than spit it back out several times, which causes it to sink to the bottem. Then it gets in between the rocks, so he can't really get to it anymore. I dont want to add any more food and cause problems, but I don't want my fish to be hungry.

She spent the first year of her life under the house of a friend. When the friend died, we caught her and her brother. The mother had ran off and the father was the neighbors cat. Two days after they were fixed, they got out of the bathroom. one went in the laundry room and she went in the sun porch. The brother fell behind the water heater and suffocated. We caught her and then we moved. Shortly after, she got outside. we caught one cat that looked like her and kept her and then caught her. At the end of May, she got out again. we caught her on July 20. She did spend her given birthday outside, July 4th. The two cats have a special bond. What can I do to keep Susie (the one who gets out) and Sally happy (the one who goes crazy when Susie is missing)?

I've tried looking it up online, but haven't been able to come up with anything. I noticed that the coloring is sometimes very close with all the mutations available. Is there a defeniate way to destinguish between the two?

My neighbor had a beta, and she asked me how to change the water and clean out the tank, and some other things about betas, well my mom used to raise them and i told her all i know, i told her to scoop the beta into a baggy with the water it already is in, and clean the tank out with regular water and a tank cleaner, and put fresh luke warm water in the tank, and place the beta in the water still in the original baggy and water for about a half an hour to get used to it, so she did this, and the beta died, now she is blamming me and told me not to come over any more because i killed her "baby" did i tell her to do something wrong? why is she being so acusitory with me?
