Yes it's a good deal, and no you're not bugging any of us, you're doing the right thing
Clean everything out and wash your tank with hot water and a scrubbpad to get all the dirt of
Also wash everything else off with hot water including your filter, but DON'T use any soap or other chemicals
Then you have to set up your tank and let it cycle with a couple of zebra danios (they are pretty hardy)
Here is some info on it

After your nitrites and ammonia levels are at 0 you can start adding other fish

get rid of the old gravel,it has fish waste in it !! wash the tank with luke warm water. put in the new gravel, after you wash it !! make sure that there is no more cloudiness, when rinsing off the gravel.put the gravel in the tank, place a clean bowl inside the tank.start filling the tank by pouring the water into the bowl.this way your gravel stays in place !! wash the filter and decorations as well. when the tank is full start the filter, place the heater in the tank. don't turn it on for about 2 hours !! the heater needs to adjust,to the water temperature, so it won't crack.let the tank run for a couple of days, without the light on. i would recommend 7 days, before adding fish. take a sample of the water to the pet store, they will test it for you.you also need to get a water conditioner.when you buy the fish, let them float inside the bag,for 30 minutes.cut the bag but don't let that water mix with yours. you also need to purchase, the ammonia kit &the ph kit. so you can run tests on your tank water. i would not recommend gold fish, they make to much waste!! it would cloud up your tank very quickly !! and you are getting a good deal, for your money. just make sure the tank is properly sealed !! so it won't leak !! i had many fish tanks in the past . ask what fish are compatible !! some fish can be very aggresive, and they will kill other fish. hope this helped you, have a nice weekend.

Don't buy more gravel. The old stuff is fine. Don't get Danios if you are going to have the Betta in the same tank. Hyper fish like Danios cause great amounts of stress on Bettas. That is a great deal. Just keep asking loads of questions before you get your fish, better safe than sorry. Get a tank scrubber or a sponge that has never been used, and start scrubbing with warm water. Never use chemicals, they are highly toxic to fish. If you have any questions, email me at nosoop4u@cox.net. Good luck!

Make sure you get yourself plants if she doesn't give you any, or only has a couple, because this is important to the security of betta's in a larger tank and will make him more active too.
You don't need to waste money on new gravel if it isn't really old and ruined, just wash everything in hot water. You can use a razor blade (careful to only use the flat edge) if there is a lot of calcium build up on the tank.

Yes your betta is going to be fine in there, but wait at least 2 days before you add him to the tank, that way your heater has adjusted the temperature ok
And when you do so, put him in a plastic bag with the water he's in right now and let him float for at least 30 min that he can adjust to the watertemperature
Hope that helps
Good luck
