I added three tiger barbs to my fish tank in hopes of helping the cycle process go a tad bit faster... i have been treating the water with that stuff called cycle every day for the first week then once a week after that... i have tested the PH and the tempreature is good... I am having no difficutlies with the tiger barbs but I had just gotten home and noticed that one of them was stuck to the filter... so i got the net and got it off, but then it swam really quickly away, and then floated to the top... to the whole conclusion... it died... what do you think may be the cause of this?? Also, they are relatively small compared to some of the tiger barbs I have seen... should i buy more? where do i go from here?

We just adopted a BIG neutered male cat from a friend who passed away from cancer. He's a sweet boy, but he does not like to be brushed or groomed in any fashion. He loves to be petted, but when the brush comes out, so do the claws. He has long hair that is matted on his back and along his back legs. I believe we will probably have to take him someplace where he'll need to be sedated and have a close haircut to get rid of these tangles. Any suggestions? We want him to be groomed, but not at the expense of him being traumatized (or us, literally).

if i have two male kittens and get them both neutered at 6 months old will they not fight.

ive been told by other people who said they have had cats before that if i get two male kittens (brothers) they will fight all the time and one will chase the other kitten away as you cant have two males living in the same house even if they are neutered.

can anyone help as i havent got two males yet and wanted to check what other people had to say regarding the matter.

I was told I may need to put my new, adopted cat under anesthesia and get a cleaning done because she has such horrible marked tartar, how much does this usually cost, and is it safe for her? I have been brushing and giving her Greenies, but her teeth were so bad when I adopted her I think this may be my only option. Thanks in advance!

My pups are under a week old?? How often is it advisable to take them away from the mother so she can rest? I don't want to do any damage to their relationship, I just want my dog to get some rest, is it okay for them to be apart for a while?? And if so, how long??

...that will eat bloodworms and Cichlid pellets that have not be eaten and have just fallen to the bottom of the tank? I'm looking for something that won't get any bigger than 2 inches max. But what else would you say if size didn't matter for me?

Thanks in advance.

My female kitten is around a year and a half old. Shes been in heat alot and keeps spraying her scent all over the place and seems to be peeing on the carpet in one area. I can't figure out if its just because shes in heat or another reason.
If I get her fixed will she stop spraying?
Help someone!

I just got a new aquarium and got a BGK and im feeding it blood worms, but i put the worms into the feeder cup that floats at the top. I have some other fish that will eat the bloodworms from the cup but the BGK just hangs out at the bottom in a little hole. Does anybody have any suggestions to ensure my BGK gets some food?

My rabbit is pregnant and i though she was due yesterday, i went to her hutch at 9pm last night and there was water blood on the hutch floor. this is her first pregnancy. my question is do they normally bleed before they give birth or is there something wrong? and how long after the blood will it take to give birth? someone suggested it was her waters breaking but shouldn't she have had them by now? thanks!

Last month i got a horse psychic out to talk to one of my horses she said he was worried about getting sent away i assured him he was with me for good but now he has turned into a nightmare!

He won't listen to any of my commands and he used to ride like a dream, he WON'T let me pick his hooves (he tries to lie down on me when i try), he WON'T let me put his bridle on (No matter how i hold his head and stick my finger in his mouth he won't take the bit). These problems aren't just me either he won't co-operate for anyone now.

He has been checked by the vet and there are no health problems and as i am the only person who has ever ridden him there has been nothing that has spooked him etc..

I really don't know what to do now. I feel he was only being good because he wanted to impress and now he knows he aint going anywhere he just thinks "screw her"!

I'm finding that i don't want to ride him because it's just SOOO hard to get him ready!

I found a leaflet about Nutro cat foods, there is one which is called "diet" or sth. This one, plus all the other Nutro foods for adult and indoor cats, have the sign for urinary health on them (they adjust the cat's urine PH). The pet shop near us only brings the Nutro gold holistic series, which is supposedly even better, but none of the bags has the urinary health symbol on them (they have the bone symbol, the heart symbol, etc., but not the urinary tract). My cat has had a serious problem with lower urinary tract disease. He is generally on a diet of foods that adjust the urine PH (royal canin light, Hill's c/d, etc.). I heard that Nutro holistic foods are much better, but will they do for his urinary tract health?
Please only answer if you have had similar experience and know for sure, because this is a serious health matter.

Where the mom cat had her kittens was a very bad place, someone in our family accidentally stepped on one. Its been almost 2 days, its still breathing, and ive looked up some kitten " formulas" and tried to feed via an eye dropper, and tried to let the mom cat feed it. It refuses to feed, and we dont have the money to bring it to the vet, is there anything esle we can do?

My pleco, Ralph, now lives alone in his 20 gallon long tank. My husband wants me to get more fish for the tank, and he says get 5-6 discus. I know discus grow, but when my goldfish grow too large for their tank, I can move everyone 'up one' so the discus will live in a 45 gallon tank. Can they grow larger if I get them a larger than 45 gallon tank?

I have 2 female cats, one is about 2 years old and the other about 4 years old. When I got the younger one, the two adapted to each other pretty well. I fell in love with a kitten at the pound who is about 3-4 months old, but he is a male. He will be neutered before I bring him home. Should I not mix the different genders?? And also, will they be territorial with the litter box?? Any info and details would be greatly appreciated and will get 10 points!!

Oh and this is kind of urgent. I have until 10AM on 7/17/07 to decide!

My friend has been trying to breed Discus for long time now, but to no avail. All his pairs, eat their eggs immediately. He has tried covering the tank to make them feel safe and sometimes kept them side by side with other pairs to bring out their protective instinct. He feeds them beef heart, blood worms, worms, larve etc. I must mention that he doesn't have the tools for monitoring the water chemistry. He does use a heater and a thermometer. Another thing I must say, is that since he doesn't get much water supply and he is busy with work, he doesn't do much water changes. I notice, the water is dirty most of the time. Now, that I have given the entire senario, please explain as to why they are doing this to their young and whats the solution.

My husband and I are going out of town for two weeks, we've had the fish for two weeks, so that will be a total of a month with no cleaning. Is this going to be a major problem? Right now the tank is very, very clear with no signs of cloudiness or dirtiness whatsoever. I guess I just want to be sure they will still be alive when I get home.

Took my cat to the vet yesterday morning. Discharging blood and pus vaginally. Vet operated on her right away because he said she had pyometra.
I brought her home today but she doesn't seem to be doing very well.
The vet said he hoped that she would eat after she went home since she hadn't eaten. I haven't been able to get her to eat or drink. I have been giving her water with an eye dropper to try to keep her from dehydrating.
Has anyone had any experience with this disease and if so, what was the recovery time frame for your cat.

I have had my first fry of delmation (or marble) mollies. I have put then in there own tank for protection from other fish (although i have put a ghost shrimp in there to wein out the population some, I hope). But what should I know or expect from this as thing is my first fry. Can I just sell them off to a local fish store for some quarters or would I be better off letting some friends have them to start a tank? and info is well received
