I have 3 molly fish that have been huge for 3 months always expecting them to have their fry two of them so far have had eggs and no fry. how can that be, as I have male mollies in the tank. Also some of thes eggs were white and some of them had two little spots in them. Is there a way to hatch these eggs without them being in the mother ? I think she got stressed and aborted .

I know this is a molly because this is a 55 gallon molly tank when they act like they are gonna have fry i put them in a breeder contraption when i got home at the bottom was about 50 eggs. I also sell my fry to the pet stores. This molly that had the eggs is a off spring of my oldest molly.. so somebody please help me out. Can't a molly not go full term from stress, and have egg. Because there are eggs inside them. and when the 4 weeks are over.. Fry come out swimming. Does somebody know anything about this?

The reason I ask this question of hatching eggs the molly as expelled. Is because I know that you can take the fertilized eggs from a goldfish tank and and hatch them I was wondering what would be the difference.

50 eggs is a lot. She probably was stressed and aborted the babies. The fry in the eggs (black dots in the eggs (eyes)) may be died or may even still be alive. I would place them in another tank or container and check if they grow fungus (which means they are not fertilized). The ones with the fry in them may hatch but they may not.

Mollys are live-bearers and I have never heard of this happening before. (I've kept aquariums for many years.) I looked it up and you are right. It says mollys are nervous by nature and miscarriages are common. If that's what happened there is no way the babies will live. It's not like you can put them in an incubator or something. Best you can do is make sure they don't get stressed next time. Make sure the water is clean, they have lots of hiding places, and the light is turned down or off, and leave them alone! They will have babies again if they stay healthy.

ok the last comment was a bit sarcastic people ask questions to find answers not jokes hi mollies are livebearers which means they give birth to free swimming mini mollies but be careful having tiny babys in ur tank sounds fun but do ur research as they can give birth every month or so make sure u can home the fry before taking them on ok

She aborted most definately and there is no way to grow any fry out of the eggs, because they have to grow inside of their mom

Hope that helps
Good luck

Hmmm...I don't think the mollies laid the eggs-they're livebearers and actually have live babies-no eggs. Any other fish in the tank? If not, then those aren't mollies you have :)

This might help you. I have never heard of mollies laying eggs, but I found this online. http://en.allexperts.com/q/Freshwater-Aquarium-3216/molly-EGGS.htm
