I added three tiger barbs to my fish tank in hopes of helping the cycle process go a tad bit faster... i have been treating the water with that stuff called cycle every day for the first week then once a week after that... i have tested the PH and the tempreature is good... I am having no difficutlies with the tiger barbs but I had just gotten home and noticed that one of them was stuck to the filter... so i got the net and got it off, but then it swam really quickly away, and then floated to the top... to the whole conclusion... it died... what do you think may be the cause of this?? Also, they are relatively small compared to some of the tiger barbs I have seen... should i buy more? where do i go from here?

Adding fish to the tank while using Cycle doesn't speed up the process. By adding the fish, you pretty much just bought Guinea Pigs. The Tiger Barb died probably because it wasn't able to adjust to the adverse water qualities of the Cycle process. A better cycling fish is Danios or even Bettas. Don't even bother replacing the Tiger Barb unless you plan to keep them in your final tank. Remember that Tiger Barbs can be aggressive towards other fish, so you will have to find other fish that are fairly aggressive. Good luck!

Is it really strong filter? Tiger barbs are pretty strong swimmers and if he got stock to the filter I'd guess he was weak and going to die anyway.

FYI, adding more fish doesn't make the cycle go faster, it just increases the levels of toxins in the tank until it does cycle. If you want to cycle quickly, get your hands on some used filter media or gravel from a mature tank - this will actually add live bacteria of both types to your tank. Cycle is barely worth the bottle it comes in.

It happens, fish just die sometimes, You are probably ok to go get more fish if your tank is ready for them. Wherever you buy buy fish, look in all the tanks and make sure there is not a lot of dead fish in them, cause there is something not right if there are.
Walmart is the worse, I was in there and saw more dead fish than live ones, wish I had had my camera and I would have taken pictures of what I saw and sent it to them. They have no business selling fish at that place. Also keep an eye out for ich in any tanks at the store you go too. Although it's a good fish store i go to, one day bought a few fish from them and they brought ich to my tank, lost 40 fish due to this. Most frustrating thing that I've ever dealt with not to mention an expensive loss.

The filter sounds like its too strong for the little fish. The fishy may have swam by and got suctioned to it which was enough to injure and kill him. :(
Sorry, see if your filter has an adustment for speed or intake that may soften the suction.

stucking in filter probably hurt it enough to kill.
