The general guideline for live rock is 1 lb per gallon if it's of Pacific origin, or 1.5-2 lbs per gallon if the rock is Atlantic or Carribean. The Pacific is more porous, so it gives the bacteria for the biologic filter more surface area to colonize.

If you're planning a reef tank, I'd recommend going with the larger amount, because inverts are very sensitive to ammonia and nitrites, so the extra bacteria will help remove these quicker. If you're keeping only fish, and you'll commit to weekly water changes, it won't matter as much which you get, but the additional rock will still help your nutrient levels in the tank.

45 lbs at least I would even go more. The live rock is a huge part of your biological filtration. 2 lbs per gallon is a good start. If it's not cured be prepared to sit on your hands for a few months for the tank to cycle.
