It means there's an opening somewhere in your house where it got in.Look for it in the daytime.If you find bats roosting,don't disturb them.Wait until dark whe they leave to go out looking for insects,then close up the opening.If there are babies,call a wildlife center to take them,or you can call a liscensed bat trapper,who will relocate the bats.Don't kill them! If one is in your living room,wait until it catches onto a curtain or something,then quickly put a coffee can over the bat and slide a piece of heavy cardboard over the top.Take it ouitside and let it go.Or,just open a window,and it will probably fly out.They really are more afraid of you than you are of them,and they are very beneficial,as they eat TONS of mosquitoes and other bugs.A lot of people even have bat houses in their yards to attract them.
