My rabbit is pregnant and i though she was due yesterday, i went to her hutch at 9pm last night and there was water blood on the hutch floor. this is her first pregnancy. my question is do they normally bleed before they give birth or is there something wrong? and how long after the blood will it take to give birth? someone suggested it was her waters breaking but shouldn't she have had them by now? thanks!

It could be a false pregnancy or something could have gone wrong with the pregnancy. If a rabbit doesn't have them in 32 days it won't have any babies. What day of her pregnancy is she on? I'd leave the nestbox in for at least 2 more days. Sometimes they can have them up to about a week after they do something like that. There can also be a chance that the doe gets pregnant when you check them back with the buck. That's why it's good to always write down when you check a doe back.

i breed rabbits, and i'v very rarely seen blood for so long before the babies were born, has she made a nest? plucking the fur from her body to line it? if not then maybe she has has the young and destroyed them? (eaten them) and that could be where teh blood is from.
most of my rabbits, i can feed them 9pm the night before, and the hutch will be normal, no nest or anything, go out at 8am the following morning, and there will be a nest built, with "wriggling things" inside. they normally have everything done that quickly. how old is the rabbit? if she is a older one (over 12 months) and this is her first litter, she may be experiencing problems. although rabbits aren't generally associated with problems, of their first mating at an older age, it does happen.

I'd contact a vet as soon as possible. Although its really nice that we all help and try to answer your question we arent qualified to make a diagnosis, your rabbit may be at severe risk.
Please pick up the phone and ask someone who knows what they are talking about, let us know what happens! I will check back, Good Luck.....
