My cat Minnie has pancreatitis (her pancreas is inflamed, and when she's having problems with it, she vomits and loses weight). She had problems with it last week and I took her to the vet and he gave her an anti-inflammatory shot and a B12 shot. That helped her a lot...but she's still so skinny from it. He doesn't feel she needs to be on meds at this time. The vet prescribed the Eukanuba low residue food, which she gets everyday. He also suggested giving her a couple of tablespoons of canned pumpkin to help her gain weight. She won't eat it...even if I mix canned cat food with it. So I just give her the canned food and she loves it and eats every bit of it. But she's still so skinny (5 lbs and her bones can easily be felt)....does anyone have any suggestions on how I can help my cat gain a little bit of weight? Serious answers only please!

I have 5yo a Rat Terrier that I took to the vet yesterday for her shots. She had a rabies shot (plus some others), but her temp was 104F, so the vet said he couldn't do anymore. My mom was with her and said that they had waited over 45 min in the waiting room and during that time our dog had worked up a lot of stress and was hyperventalating.

Now, as of today she still has not eaten anything and just lays in bed. Is this normal for dogs after recieving vaccinations? What else should we do? My mom is already deciding that we should go to a different vet b/c at our current one...thanks for the help.

I yell "no" and some times lightly smack her head when she misbehaves, but she doesn't seem to know that means "don't do that." She just thinks we're playing, fighting, and i don't know what.

My dog is from a pound and was left in a home all alone in a house and the owners moved away and left her and her sis there with a little food and water for a month. I can understand why she is scared because she was abused besides being left. But we treat her fine and have had her for 2 years. And she still is scared of the broom, vaccum, and will NOT go in the bathroom if her life depends on it. If you are walking her she flinces when you reach down to pet her. If you are playing wih her and start to pull on her toy for tug-o-war she will just drop imedietly. When you come home she is excited and scared at the same time so she piddles on the floor. How can I help her not to be so scared she is a black lab/mix.

I have a red ear slider, and it is annoying me. It stinks up the tank. I gotta change it every week. It probabbly is giving me stomach aches and bad poop. It's just annoying to care for an animal. It's like 4 or 5 years old.

I have a serious problem. When I'm away, my cat, Floppy, seems to be quite the prankster. He constantly faxes me pictures of his butt while I'm at work. I can't disconnect my fax machine because I need it for my work. I've tried spanking him, giving him time-out, and even faxing him pictures of MY butt, but that doesn't seem to faze him. I need help! How do I stop him?!

A little barn swallow fell out of his next and is not ready to fly or be on his own. The parents are very upset, and are flying all around. Should we try and put the baby back in the nest?

The boys have always been really friendly and good-natured toward one another and their sister and they've never hurt each other or anything or anyone else. But recently I've noticed that when we lock them in the kennel (all three in one extended cage) they get more agressive toward one another. My husband came home one night to see that the black male had the brown pinned by the throat and they were snarling and barking really aggressively. The female was just watching, not barking or snarling at all. Then today I looked out the window because I could hear them barking and snarling more than usual and they were about to go at each other, teeth bared, jowls pulled back and everything. I just want to know what's going on with them. Is it just male domination? If it is, why haven't they done it before this. They're almost two years old now. I want it to stop because I don't want them to hurt each other.

My 20-month old mini doxie gained 2 pounds over the past 6 months. She is now almost 9 pounds.

Here is what she normally eats per day:
2 baby carrots
1 small cookie (ol mother hubbard)
1/2 cup kibble
2 tablespoons chicken OR beef (ccoked)

Is that too much for her?

Any suggestions on how to help a dog not be scared? I think a groomer did something to her b/c she use 2 not be this way. Anytime she's in the car she goes straight for the floor & hides. If she's in the truck she goes under the seat. I've tried taking her on more rides but it seems to just make her more nervous. We've even went 2 the lake & its like any movement scares her. Her nerves are shot!

I want her 2 get better b/c we like going 2 the lake & we take our other dog. I feel bad leaving her @ home b/c I know it just has 2 be more painful than fun 2 her.

I want your opinion on clothes for dogs and I don't mean like a coat or boots for when it's way cold. I mean clothes i.e tanks, tees, swimsuits, hoodies, coats, dresses, ect. Do you think it is silly or that it makes perfect sense to buy your dog clothes, and would or have you. Be honest I wanna know. Thanx.

My dog, a Golden Retriever, has what it seems to be a bad case of yeast infection in both ears (not the first time). I have read that I should change his food etc. but first I need to clear his infection. I have been to the vet several times about this in the past and paid expensive medicines that seems to work just for short period of time. A co-worker suggested to use over-the-counter medicine to treat vaginal yeast infection. Does anyone has any experiense/comment/thought about this?

It is getting embarrasing when we take her out and someone wants to fuss her she cowers, people have even asked if we are mistreating her. We love her to bits if anything she is spoilt to be honest. She is playful and happy at home. how can we give Missy dog some confidence?

I have a 9 year old Rottweiler who is suffering from arthritis in her hips and elbows. We currently give her asprin for it, but it just doesn't seem to be helping as much as it could. I've heard of Rimadyl, I had a dog put on it before, but had adverse reactions to it (after we found out he had cancer). How safe is it? How well does it work? Is it expensive?
Thank you so much for any answers!

Hi Guys, how can i stop him? I have tried saying 'ouch!' and turning away, replacing my hand, arm or leg with a toy but he still nips and even growls a teeny bit. We are going to training classes and he is so good, but just lately he does get a bit out of hand... funny thing is it's usually when my husband is around, when i am alone he is as good as gold and does as he is told. Any tips??

I DON'T KNOW IF HE MIGHT BE JEALOUS OF OUR BABY ( BUT HE IS 6 MONTHS OLD) OR OUR NEW KITTEN BUT WE HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS. THE KITTEN HAD AN EYE INFECTION AND UPPER RESPATORY PROBLEMS WHEN WE GOT HIM. DO YOU THINK HE MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN IT FROM THE KITTEN,. THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING BUT HE HASN'T BEEN COUGHING OR SNEEZING AND I CAN'T TELL WEITHER HE HAS WORMS OR NOT BECUASE HE IS AN OUTDOOR CAT AND HE POOPS OUTSIDE IN PRIVACY I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO AND I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET.
