MY CAT IS ABOUT A YEAR OLD AND HE IS A LONG HAIRED CAT... FOR THE LAST 2 OR 3 DAYS HE HASN'T BEEN EATING AND HE HAS LOST ALOT OF WEIGHT. I DON'T KNOW IF HE MIGHT BE JEALOUS OF OUR BABY ( BUT HE IS 6 MONTHS OLD) OR OUR NEW KITTEN BUT WE HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS. THE KITTEN HAD AN EYE INFECTION AND UPPER RESPATORY PROBLEMS WHEN WE GOT HIM. DO YOU THINK HE MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN IT FROM THE KITTEN,. THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING BUT HE HASN'T BEEN COUGHING OR SNEEZING AND I CAN'T TELL WEITHER HE HAS WORMS OR NOT BECUASE HE IS AN OUTDOOR CAT AND HE POOPS OUTSIDE IN PRIVACY I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO AND I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET.

You need to get the cat the medical attention that you are aware he needs. Weight loss is a significant indicator that something is wrong with your pet.

If they can't smell the food (with a stuffed up nose) a lot of cats don't eat.

He could have a broken tooth which makes eating hard or even soft food very painful. The tooth would have to be taken out.

If they're loosing weight VERY fast (like going down 2 pounds in 3 weeks) and are getting so bad they're bony, it could be the thryroid, or diabetes. It's important to get them in for help, because both of these can kill a cat very fast.

It's not because he's jealous, cats don't stop eating unless there's a physical reason.

try OTC worm meds, follow the directions on the label. chances are best that, him being an outside cat, he's infested with them at the moment, it is the usual cause of weight loss in outside cats.
