Ok, last week I cut my foot I bled all over the kitchen. I have a little orange kitty that was playing in my blood. Yesturday now, I was eating a hot dog and the same kitten came over and latched on to my face and made me bleed. Do you think he will out grow this? What do you suggest? I don't want to have to get rid of him.

It's just a baby. The kitten was playing in the blood because it was different than the surrounding floor, just a spot to him, so he tried to play with it. He couldn't distinguish your face from the hot dog. Hot dogs have a very strong odor so he didn't know where you stopped and the hot dog began. You need to understand the kitten is just being a kitten. NO kittens are mean or spiteful until people abuse them and make them that way. Love your baby, but understand he is just exploring the world. Please don't try to "punish" your kitten at this young age. Picture this, he's playing with a funny spot on the floor, you spray him with water or hit him. He's biting something that smells mighty good, you spray him with water or hit him. Really, it's just being abusive at this age. You are in charge of a funny, curious, wonderful creature. You'll enjoy this experience so much more if you love more and punish less.

I think that he will probably outgrow this because he's just a baby yet - but every time he bites you, put him on the ground. Don't Yell, don't hit, don't react, just pick him up and calmly put him on the ground.

The kitten will soon learn "if I chew on the hand, the fun goes away" Works exactly the same way as a timeout does for small kids. It should only take a few times of doing this for the kitten to get the idea.

Awful hun, I would be so worried. Though she is young so maybe it just tramatised her, but you should take her to a vet tonight after work to make sure there isnt any brain damage. I worked in a vets and this kind of thing has happened before. Edit Also its like a baby (kitten) so not strong like a cat yet so its like a baby be very careful, and dont over look this. By her letting you touch her head doesnt mean she is ok, it could mean she is infact to weak to fight you off, you did say she wasnt herself. It may be internal so that may be why it didnt hurt her when you touched her, which is worse. Hope all is well.

A kitten barely two months old is still a baby. Be patient and don't tempt her with food by your face. If you distract them when you eat, or keep them out of the room, you won't get the lunges at the food which smells better than what they get in the bowl.

They're just babies, you have to be persistent and patient. That's how they learn. Hitting or yelling at them won't stop the behavior, you need to use body language, quiet voice and distraction.

I honestly think that most all kittens and puppies, go through a biting stage, where as most kids do as well. I think that it is perfectly normal. My advice just if he does it again, just make sure you sternly say no, that was bad, or something like that, and maybe give him a little tap on the nose. My cat use to bite my nose all the time, he never did it hard though. He's 6 now and still does it, again never hard, I think it's his way of giving a kiss. Good Luck!

What happened before the kitten bit your face? Pets respond best to gentle people with soft spoken voices. Slow movements are less intimidating for them than quick, loud movements.

Don't get rid of your kitten. A pet is a life time committment.

It's exactly as Caper said. Our son did this with our kitten- but with a bologna sandwich- and the same thing happened. To discourage, put him on the floor and say "NO" in a firm voice.

they're kittens, they're just playing, but their teeth are mighty sharp 'cause they're so new. discourage the biting by saying no-no and putting them with their toys, or distract them witha loud noise. the cut on you foot thing is just a coincidence. no kittens have a taste for human blood

When the kitten does this spray his body with water (with a spray bottle), pick him up and firmly tell him "NO". If this doesnt work the kitten may grow out of it with age, because the older he gets the better he will be.
