I just called the animal control officer in my area and she told me that there is no fee for retreiving a licensed dog as long as the dog doesn't have to be held for more than 24 hours (the town pays for the first 24 hours of food and shelter). After that there is a fee for the extra food and shelter. In either case the owner must bring proof of ownership in the form of the papers they obtained when they got the dog licensed.

If the dog is unlicensed there is a fine as well as an adoption fee as there is no proof of ownership.

This is just my area though; the rules in your area are probably different. Look up "animal control" in the blue pages of your phone book (it will be listed under the section for your town) and give them a call.

It depends.. Some places as long as your dog had a dogtag issued by the county, then you'll get your dog back for free. If you didn't, then you have to pay to get the dog back.. Other places are different.. You should know the rules in your area .. it'll give you better incentive to keep your dog at home.

In my area there is a fee to get your dog out of the pound. Contact your local animal control and ask them about it.

In Georgia you have to pay a fee before you get your dog back. We have a leash law, so your paying for the ticket you get from your dog not being on the leash...

not if there is a bylaw or lease law the first time will cost you so much and the 2nd will be more and in most towns after third time you can't get the dog back but this is in one year after the new year it starts all over again

It depends on where you live. Most shelters make you pay a small fee for the space food and water that they used for your dog. It isn't usually that much.

You would have to have proof that the dog is yours, and depending on what they think than you may or may not get the dog back for free.
