Any suggestions on how to help a dog not be scared? I think a groomer did something to her b/c she use 2 not be this way. Anytime she's in the car she goes straight for the floor & hides. If she's in the truck she goes under the seat. I've tried taking her on more rides but it seems to just make her more nervous. We've even went 2 the lake & its like any movement scares her. Her nerves are shot!

I want her 2 get better b/c we like going 2 the lake & we take our other dog. I feel bad leaving her @ home b/c I know it just has 2 be more painful than fun 2 her.

You could perhaps get some Scullcap & Valerian tablets for her from a Homeopathic store. One of my Goldens was exactly like this a while ago and I was recommended by an Animal Behaviourist to try them on her. They really helped her to overcome her nervousness. It is not a drug so will not have any side effects whatsoever.

I gave them to my dog for a couple of months and then I stopped giving them to her. By that time she had been able to overcome her fear of travelling in the car and I haven't had a problem with her since. I think they just take the anxiety away.

There is another product called a Dap Diffuser which releases theramones and helps to relax the dog. You just spray your car before the dog gets in and it also helps to relax them. Have a search on the internet to find out more about these products.

Sounds like your dog was never socialized. If your groomer traumatized the dog why would that make it afraid of cars and trucks? Enroll yourself and the dog in a good obedience class and allow them to teach you how to socialize, how to teach your dog and to understand dog behavior.

Also you might consider some remedial classes in how to properly express your thoughts in written English. Did you know there is a difference in the words: two, too, to and 2? They have different meaning and are not interchangeable.

What do you do when she is scared? How do you or others handle this behavior?
