I have a 12lb maltese and she jumped up onto my kitchen chair and onto the kitchen table and managed to open a closed box of chocolate pixies (chocolate, caramel, and nuts). I know chocolate is toxic to dogs. I looked on the box and I'm not sure if the pixies were milk chocolate or dark chocolate; however, it tasted like milk chocolate to me. Is there anything I can do to induce vomiting so I can get some of it out of her system?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

why is it that so many people are so mislead when they talk about saltwater aquariums?
giving people wrongful advise, when they obviously know nothing of what they are talking about?
you DO NOT NEED live coral for a SW aquarium to thrive. nor do you NEED live rock or live sand, or 8,000 watt metal halide bulbs!
stop furnishing myths and leave the advising to people who know what they are talking about and have had first had experince doing it the right way.
there are a bunch of different ways of making a SW aquarium.
FO (fish only), the most affordable way, only requires saltwater, fish, a few basic peices of equipment, and a filter and heater.
FOWLR (fish only with live rock) is a little easier to do but more expensive as it requires the purchas eof live rock, up to tell dollars a pound in some places. but you can subsidize this with half and half live and regular rocks, cutting costs in half.

Hes about a year and a half old. I dont really know whats up with him, he came in Wednesday night and wasnt moving or eating. My parents kept him warm but didnt think he'd make it through the night. He was better yesterday, we gave him tuna and fish baby food, and he even walked around the garden a few times. Now hes gone backwards. One side of his neck is swollen and very hard, and he dosent move his neck. He walks, and he does eat a little, but we've just given him pilchards which he retched up and dribbled before leaving. Hes a little wheezy but hes not in any pain. We've taken him to the vets but they've said hes too weak to be operated on and they dont really know whats wrong. Hes so weak. I cant let him die..i love him. Any advice on what i can do?

My house call vet who doesn't perform surgery referred me to a specialist when she found suspicious lumps on my cats neck (lymph node and thyroid). $1600 later at the specialist we have found that it is most likely not cancerous, but an infection (he is healthy otherwise). The lumps aren't getting smaller so they'd like to remove them to the tune of $2000-$3000.

Here are the questions:
Now with what we have learned from the visits to the specialist what is the best way to shop around for someone to do the procedure at a more reasonable rate?

Can I ask the specialist to send records to other vets so I can get estimates?

Does anyone know if only a specialist can remove lumps from a delicate area, such as the neck and throat, or is it fairly routine?

Thank you!!!

I work at a vet clinic, and a family came in with their three dogs and three kids. Each kids had their own dog. One was aggressive, he was Jennifer's dog. They said that he will bite anyone who came too close to Jennifer. They were so proud of this, laughing about it. The dad said, "I'm glad because I know I don't have to worry about any boys getting too close to her." So they encouraged the behavior, even though he has already bitten a few adult men (friend's of the father). We advised them to see an animal behaviorist, but they didn't feel it was necessary. Well a few weeks ago he bit one of Jennifer's young friends. She had to go to the hospital and get a bunch of stitches. After this the family euthanized the dog because they felt he was too dangerous. I was mortified when I found out, and I felt it was the owners fault for not getting behavioral help earlier on.

This REALLY angered me. I wish they would have taken proper steps earlier to help the dog. How do you feel about it?

I have a female cat, who is about 15 years old. Initially, she started urinating right outside of the litterbox, and then around it. We eventually moved her down to the basement, which gave her access to the outdoors. Recently, she has gotten even worse, and can't even walk straight, since her back legs keep drifting to the side. She has also gotten very thin, and her breathing sounds like loud purring. She's also preferring milk over almost anything. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

For the past 4 months or so, my 15 gallon tank has been growing so much algea. The water turns completely green if I don't completely empty it once a week. I really don't want to have to do that. Any ideas on what I should do? ...I already have a plecostomus. He does good at cleaning the glass and stuff, but he can't do the water.

I have 6 fishes in a 10 gallon tank. 2 green tiger barbs, 2 albino tiger barbs, and 2 regular tiger barbs. I also have 3 fake plants in the back of the tank which leaves them a lot of space in the front, and since they school together they don't take much of the space. I don't have any problems with cloudiness or with algae, I take out 1/3 of the water every week and change the filter pad every 3 weeks, and the temp is around 78 F, is this ok?

I've had them for a month now and they seem to be doing fine.
Is the rule of 1 inch per gallon true?

I'm thinking of moving the to a 20 gallon tank, if I do can I add some more tiger barbs?
