NO goldfish of any kind, you will stunt their growth

You could put a male betta in there with 3 zebra danios, 2 corycats (bottomfeeder) and a couple of other small fish

Hope that helps
Good luck

What is your problem with my answer mr goku????
Maybe you should read up on stunting a fish, then you wouldn't say such BS, I guess it's easier to ignore the truth

But I guess you're one of the many ignorants and have really no idea about fish keeping, do you

you could do some cherry shrimp in a planted tank.
or a betta,
or some guppies,
or certain kinds of killifish but they are rather hard to kind and most that would live in a 5.5 only live for 1 year.

goku's kinda got a point they are far too active for a 5.5 and a ten is even too small. i would suggest a 20 long minimum. and they need groups as large as any other schooling fish, 6 min.

If you want something similar in color to a goldfish, you can go for orange platys or even smaller mollies.

Another choice in the orange colors would include a small group of orange australe killifish

They are fairly cheap, easy to order from breeders and live 2-3 years on average. Two pair or even 2 trios would be fine in a 5.5 gallon tank.

They are also quite easy to breed so you can easily keep them around for as long as you want.

How about some orange-yellow Guppies. In a 5.5 gallon tank, you could get about 4-6 male Guppies.

By the way, no Zebra Danios, they are very active fish that will injure themselves in such a small tank. Cory Cats will feel really cramped in that tank, so they don't work either.

I believe angel! electric powered yellows could be a great starter cichlid.. there on the smaller facet and are the least aggressive of all cichlids and function great personalities!! this is what I definitely have in my fifty 5 12 electric powered yellows, a bristle nostril pleco, angelicous catfish and 10 tiger barbs. the tank is appealing :) in case you pass with cichlids make particular to look up alot of information on them first they want particular water standards and a superb kind of hiding spots! even have you ever regarded into Gouramies they are interior the cichlid relatives and are the two spectacular. as for the 20 gal the opportunities are countless!!!!!

first of all DO NOT USE THAT FIRST ANSWER that is completely insane. Like someone said the danios are too active they need atlest 10 gallons to run. You could do a Betta and maybe like some ghost shrimps or a bamboo shrimp. Do not over stock that small of a tank it would be insane. Also, cories need to be in atleast 10 gallons.
