Here's the situation, my 3 1/2 week old kitten fell to the floor from sitting on my lap. I say it was a foot or so worth of falling from my lap to the hardwood floor. After she fell, she was moving her head as if she were gagging and moving on her side as if she was having a seizure of some sort. That lasted for 2 minutes. After that, she had a very blank stare and barely meowed, she just mewed. I am worried, as I have never had this happen to me before. She is sleeping now....do I still need to wake her up for her normal feeding, or let her sleep. Please help! I am taking her to the vet on Friday morning.

Unfortunately I do not have the mother. She was left abandoned. Mother had them, then left her and her sibling.

It does sound like she had a seizure, and after a seizure an animal usually does sleep. However it would be a good idea to wake her up and if she's able to wake up normally and swallow normally, go ahead and feed her because she could develop hypoglycemia (shock from too low blood sugar) if she goes too long without eating too.

Make sure too, she is warm enough, you might want to put a heating pad on low under one half of her bed. Kittens of that age can't regulate their body temperature fully yet and if she is also being affected by any degree of shock from the fall, warming one end of her bed gives her the option of going to the warmer area if she needs the extra warmth, or to the cooler part if she doesnt. If you can take her temperature (rectally), take her temperature and see if it is normal or not (normal is about 100.5, anything below that is subnormal and indicates a definite need for added warmth)

Chances are good that after your kitten is seen by the vet, that she will recover fully from her accident.

You need to take her to the vet first thing in the morning to rule out a neurological problem caused by the fall. Also, she is awfully young to be away from her mother,or do you have the mother as well? At any rate,I wouldn't wait until Friday.Call your vet and explain that the kitten fell, and they will probably see her right away. And,I would try to wake her to see if she will eat.You don't want her blood sugar to drop on top of everything else.If she eats normally and keeps it down, then she probably doesn't have a concussion, but if she doesn't eat ,or eats and then vomits, there could be a head injury.Good luck and I hope the kitten will be OK.

Monintor her for a while. Don't let her sleep for too long with out waking her and checking up on her. And for God's sake don't wait until Friday, take her now. She could have some sort of brain trama from what you were describing. Take her as soon as possible to an animal e.r. if one is near by.

she needs to be with her mother cat unless she doesnt have one where she is living. she is too young to be away from her mom cat for too long. the kitten is prob. fine she was prob. sleepy and a little dizzy after the fall. see what the vet says but she should be fine
