Is this common???? He's been neutered for almost two years. He was about 3 when we had him fixed (he was a stray at my grandmothers business) . I have an intact female that he always trys to "breed" when she is in season.... is this normal or should I be worried that the vet screwed up? We plan on having the female fixed but she is special needs and the surgery will be somewhat costly so we are putting away for it. Meanwhile he is making me crazy! lol

It's possible the vet only took out one testicle if the other hadn't descended, so he could potentially still be viable. Call the vet who did the neutering and have him look at the records he has on the cat's operation. If he couldn't get both of them, there'd be a record of it. Potentially the other one 'dropped' at a later date, and he's responding to the female for that reason.

If the vet DID get both, then he could be one of those that just gets hyped up around a cat in heat, but he'd be shooting blanks so it's no big deal, he can't reproduce.

easily get a kitten. it's going to be much less annoying for the two between the cats to evolve if the newcomer is a kitten. Gender does not actual be counted, yet I plan on getting my male cat a male better half. it extremely is because of the fact in my journey male cats are greater playful and as quickly as they're neutered territory isn't in all probability an argument. regardless of intercourse you opt for, i could decide for a playful kitten who will fulfill your cat's neediness by using enjoying. stable luck!

I think this is common because he was 3 when you had it done. The vets always say to spay and neuter cats within that first year anytime after that they begin to get the instincts.

My brothers vet told him that if he was going to neuter a horse to do it before he started breeding, because after he started breeding the notion would always be there. Shouldn't be any different with any other animal.

Your cat may also be trying to show dominance. It appears to be trying to mate, but really just showing that he is "top cat".

You should read a book called "Think Like a Cat" or "Cat vs. Cat" by Pam Johnson-Bennet

i have two girl cats, the one gets on top of the other. at first i thought my cat was a lesbian, but on closer inspection i looked and saw that she was on top of her and clawing my kitten's hind leg's. I aksed my vet, and he said my cat was basically showing my kitten she was the boss, and the kitten should'nt mess with her. my cat only has back claws, so, thats all i can offer.
