We've had our Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix for three months, and she's made herself at home with the family perfectly fine. She tends to be aggressive, but then very skittish after barking or growling at another dog. Recently, we got another JRT mix, and our Chihuahua made sure to let him know she was boss the first day, which I was told is good when accepting the new dog in the home. But then he began to take the upper hand, and our poor original doggie has been running away from him, and she won't eat, pee, or play when he's in the room. She's very scared and jumpy, and this has gone on for two days. I make sure to give her extra love, and I always feed her first, but the new dog totally dominates her. Is there anything I can do to make her feel less threatened and accept the new dog into the family, or can only time tell?

It's known that dogs with pug noses -- bulldogs, pugs, etc -- have a lot of trouble breathing, especially in hot weather. They are suffering -- and we STUPID humans did this to them. Are there any breeders attempting to breed them BACK to normal? Have we learned our lessons about breeding to EXTREMES?

My dog is a Jack Russle named Boats, and he is hyper but he's been doing pretty good. Still playful, and full of life. Well two days ago, he got the rabies vaccination, and I got rid of our cat we've had for a year. That night he usually sleeps in the bed with me.... he won't even jump on the bed. like right now his front paws are down like he's trying to lay down, but his hine legs are straight up, like it's hard for him to sit down. I thoguht at first he was depressed about the cat going, the fact we're moving in two days so alot is going on, or the fact that my boyfriend, has been overseas for 8 months, so I thought with everything he was depressed. Now he was fine until that day, and now he shakes and I noticed he won't jump in my lap, or the bed, which is VERY unusual. And now for the first time, he whimpers at me to let him go outside. Please is there anything anyone can suggest, like is this a side effect to the vacination or is it just with everything going on, he's sad???

I found a box turtle in the road so I stopped and went running to get him. He's a cool little guy and is very friendly (he likes to be pet on his head and his neck).

Unfortunately he has a major health concern/injury that I'm attending to, but nonetheless, I went out and got all the gear to take him in and take care of him.

If anyone has any knowledge about box turtles, or knows of an exotic vet that I can send pictures or I can speak to for advice about the care of his injury and how to treat it, I could use the help and would be very appreciative. Thanks!

I know a good bit about regular care for box turtles, but not his injury..

Here is a picture of the injury..

It appears that it's pretty swollen. There is some scabs and abrasions as well. I have been keeping it clean with a solution vets use to clean the animals.

I've had a 29 gallon tropical freshwater fish tank set up for about 1.5 months. I am having trouble controlling the nitrite level. It is dangerously high and I've lost several fish probably due to this issue. I was adding cycle to the water which is supposed to help but hasn't. Until now the ammonia level was high as well but that seems to be under control according to my recent water tests.

I am doing research on dogs, as I am seriously considering getting one. All I was wondering was whether the spaying procedure absolutely stops the heat cycle (especially the associated bleeding) once done.

The question I have is, is there any animals that actually carry rabies. That means the animal actual does not have to have it to bite you and give it to you. Ive always heard a skunk carries it and actually doesnt have to have it to transmit it to you. I have read numerous articles about it and all are different some say a bat for instance isnt actually a carrier and die from it also. Then other article Classify them as a carrier. Some say skunks raccoons bats fox and coyotes are the main carriers. Someone please classify a carrier to me. I can not find anything that actually answers my question as to if an animal can be perfectly healthy with no signs of it ever and still transmit it to a human or other animal if bitten. The reason why Im asking this is I have had pet raccoons all my life and theyve all bitten me at one time or another. Im 40 years old and still have one today. Thanks for any information

I have 4 Swordtails,4 guppys, 1 Albino Plecostomus, 1 Frog, and 2 Dwarf Gourami's in a 55 gallon tank. I would like to know if you think that if I got a Ram cichlid it would be happy, Would you recommend only getting one Ram or more?. I dont know if this helps but all my fish are male, will they attack the Cichlid?
Also please give some suggestions of some middle-level swimming fish that are very colorfull and sold at the local pet store.
Thanks

I had a salamander type pet once. It was called an Ocilotto ( I haven't spelled this right) It was about 5-7 inches long, is white, and it had feathery looking fins that were kind of pinkish in color, these fins came out of the side of its head (like a fish has gills, in that area.) It lived in and out of water. My question is" has anyone the correct spelling of the name, are there any websites that have photos and info on them. Maybe if I could figure out the spelling, I can find these sites myself.
Thanks for any info.

I have 2 female German Shepherds 1 year old. One has loose skin that moves all around when you rub her and the other has real tight skin that doesn't move much at all when we rub her. Does anyone know what causes this? They are both close in weight with the loose skin dog at 65 and the tight skin dog at 70.

Faster than it takes a human being?

You can put 2 dogs in a cage...and in 1 week time, the female would be pregnant.

if you put 2 people together, and they have sex a lot. it would be harder for them to get pregnant.

why?

I have two silkie chickens, but I am not happy with them. They take a long time to mature and the rooster is very, very aggressive.

What is the best breed to get if I want eggs all year long and want to sell some of the chicks and eggs?
