I am doing research on dogs, as I am seriously considering getting one. All I was wondering was whether the spaying procedure absolutely stops the heat cycle (especially the associated bleeding) once done.

Yes. It also increases her health vitality and means she can NEVER have puppies, thus, add to the dog overpopulation crises.

The dog can never again go in heat nor get pregnant once it is spayed.

As long as the vet uses the traditional method of spaying. Some vets are using the laser method, which severs the tubes but she will still ovulate. (much like a human, that has had her "tubes tied".

Once the uterus is gone there will be no bleeding, just like when women get a hysterectomy.......no equipment, no blood.
